I actually like many qualities of the various tofu. But I cannot exist on mostly tofu because soy is inflammatory and I have arthritis. I really need to look more into cookbooks for things like lentils and what not and use more potato too. Pigs are cute, funny, smart and chooks are mighty predators!

I grew up deliberately cut off from "Modern society" by choices of my parents. Usually rural or outskirts of small towns. Lots of cheese, peanut butter, food stamps food and whatever was cheapest, for sure. Egg noodles with canned tuna and frozen peas. Boxed cereal and either uht or powdered milk.

Salt was in short supply/highly controlled around that time, so I'm guessing the herring may have been an attempt to bypass the highly sought/likely very expensive, seasoning. This definitely screams "poor food" for sure. Thank you for sharing the experience!

I wear mine too long. But last eye check showed the birth of the shadow of glaucoma so now it's yearly to determine when I need to get eye surgery so....I take care of mine as best I can. I have cases with cleaning supplies at my desk, in. my everyday carry bag, in my car.

Mine are vintage, reused since likely my mother's childhood, something her mother would have worn. Pure metal, no plastic, except the possibly bakelite ear pieces. Love them. Been sunglasses for me and now everyday glasses. Take a look at genuine vintage frames at some point.

My local "hmart" sells lot of off cuts. Most "Asian" supermarkets do. If you or anyone you know still uses Book of Faces , often "meat for the freezer" local hyperlocal private sellers there. Another idea is to look for "meat shares" wherein people group buy and raise something for slaughter.
