My first "career" was in telecom consulting the 2 years before, during, and immediately after the .com crash, so I've been leary of the LLM economy since before it was cool. I don't think dark inference will hold future value the way the dark fiber I helped leave behind did.

Question for automated speed camera advocates (because I want to be one of you): what is the technological solution to keep them out of the Panopticon? Making it illegal isn't enough. It needs to be impossible. (And then I'm fully onboard. Traffic laws should be enforced, and enforced equitably!)

Though M-W gets the actual quote right ("I said the loud part quiet and the quiet part loud!"), I wish it explicitly pointed out the common usage with the "out" is both a misquote and doesn't make the same literal sense as the original joke. This may be my strongest held dumb pet peeve.

This is what stuck with me was watching the Shakespearean performance (d)evolve into what felt like a classic Izzard special and how it just made sense. She could play it in repertory with them. She did only a handful of podcasts promoting this, worth listening to (I've heard 3 so far)

If we're going to have executions (we shouldn't), I've long believed they should be viewable, because we shouldn't be allowed to hide from our barbarism. But skipping the soul searching and going straight for celebration probably won't have the effect I hoped for.

I've seen it here at small breweries like 3-5x. Not in distribution. Young, not well-connected brewers who I think noticed that "festbier" started showing up in their market and they thought it was just a better selling name for "Octoberfest"
