Tbh in my experience, infants significantly under appreciate Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Believe me, I've tried, but in 100% of cases milk and mummy cuddles more reliably stopped them crying than the sweet sweet twiddling of Dave Murray. Idiots.

It's definitely on my long list of things to think about and maybe change. I'd like to incentivise bringing personal issues directly into the superhero scenes, because as a GM I don't have the multi-tasking brain to consistently do it myself. But the current metacurrencies are a bit of a blunt tool

I ran two parallel campaigns in the same shared City, which I also use as the basis for my 90-120 min convention games. My other campaign I ran, we created an entirely new city, and when I did a 4 hour convention game we also created a new city as part of that game too.

sets specific time aside for them to explored, they're led by the players (reducing GM load) and doing one gives both 50% of session XP *and* a special metacurrency, so they really matter.

For me the key thing Rich misses is how the game directly integrates superheroes personal lives into the structure of each session. They're not *fully* integrated - the core game is about superheroes being superheroes - but every PC has two defined personal story elements, the game procedure

What I find interesting is how there seems to be a growth in unionism in US that isn't matched in Europe, and I suspect this is because Europe's baseline employee protections and benefits are stronger. So if companies don't like unions, lobby for stronger labor laws 😋

I just sent a BBC Bitesize article on semicolons to a fucking expensive day-rate consultant. Here's my "When to Use Semicolons" 1. Instead of fullstops for linked sentences 2. In lists 3. Before conjunctive adverbs 4. Never. You'll probably do it wrong. Commas and full stops are fine

I do like this. But I also don't think you should use it as an excuse not to try to close obvious loopholes in a rules system. It's always a question of degree. You can't design out Dickheadery, but you can design in "Broken"

I quite like the modern adage if you might not like the result, don't roll the dice. I wouldn't say I live by it 100% but I find it's a helpful steer as a GM

I don't know about best. But I think Phandelver is strong, the 4e DMG has a nice starter dungeon, and nothing has got me wanting to run a game more in recent years than the Hand of the White Wizard for The One Ring

I kinda think it needed Dune Messiah to really make it clear that it's not a white saviour narrative and that actually Paul triggered a galactic genocide and that is a Bad Thing ™️ (but it could probably have been wrapped up with an epilogue rather than a whole extra novel)
