There might be a genshin character somewhere who's all but confirmed? Like the maybe didnt say autistic but described it instead?

Had my probation meeting at work today and my manager told me that when he was reviewing my quality he actually phoned his manager halfway through to say he wasn't doing any more than 3 checks because it was a waste of time since I'm so good at my job 🥺🥺

Ya boi is now flying solo in the new job, no more supervision. Scary but rewarding when I realise I can do something by myself:333

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 08/08/2025

was working on my campaign setting's cosmology the other day and @ladyoflore.seeks.quest was helping me lay out and name the various planes of existence! there's a lot of planescape and forgotten realms influence, but I feel like I've managed to put an interesting spin on the whole thing!

The older I get, the more I find myself agreeing with Donkey Kong’s core philosophy, which is, as I understand it, “banana “

Yes! The Coryd was such a fun race to come up with! They're strange, humanoid creatures who are each born when a story is created! It can be a spoken story, a song, or in the case of one that my party met, a play! The subraces are all different types of entertainer! jester, mime, comedy + tragedy!

i love the kid icarus uprising ost sm it really reawakens that inner childlike feeling of adventure that life likes to muffle :')

070

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

also it really writes its own little stories, because that's twice now they've had carceri (the prison plane) invade, and they've defeated the "Jailer" from there twice. Now he has a vendetta against them and is actively waiting for their next encounter to abduct and imprison them!

150

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

it really brings a dynamic twist to combat, and helps make things more difficult for my high-level pcs. because just a regular group of people wouldn't be a challenge, now they have to worry about demons, elementals, or undead getting involved! plus its fun to see them panic when i roll on it

150

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 22/05/2025

my whole campaign revolves around the fact that the planes of existence are collapsing in on themselves, so I'm working more on my "Planar Collapse" table that is rolled randomly during combat. Sometimes creatures from other planes invade, or the environment shifts to that of another plane

currently going old-school with this session/ arc prep and it feels like a good ol' prewritten module hehe definitely getting back in my vibe for prep, it's amazing what a bit of free time does for your DM brain!

my character in the saturday campaign is a prejudiced, alcoholic mess who has fallen in love with the princess he is sworn to protect i love flawed characters sm

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 07/05/2025

absolutely! there are obviously elements of cliché, but it's kind of impossible to find fantasy that doesn't use it to some degree. i'd defo say the quality goes up dramatically as the series goes on, especially reading it as an adult. you pick up on far more than before. overall, super enjoyable!

010

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 07/05/2025

just finished murtagh! what a story. murtagh is definitely one of (if not my absolute) fave characters in the whole series. him and thorn dealing with their trauma and having to face and overcome their greatest fears was so emotional. highly recommend the inheritence cycle for all fantasy fans!

ibs brings out the moustache-twirling cartoon villain in me fr also yes, currently going through the process of diagnosis. I've been told there's a possibility of coeliac disease, but it's taking a long time smh

my most creative hours are those stricken by ibs what else is there to do when crying in the bathroom for hours except write some kind of dastardly scheme?

currently having a go at a reputation system for my party since they're becoming so politically influential! it's got info on what each faction's opinion on the party is, as well as what they are willing to sell/ give to them. it gives the players an idea of where they stand in the world!

180

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 02/05/2025

writing comedic wealth is so fun like what do you mean you've got a personal mirror attendant who polishes and adjusts any mirror you look into

250

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 30/04/2025

lads, the mythical "masquerade ball" d&d arc is approaching ! it's time to write guest lists, noble concerns, political intrigue, and depict vast amounts of wealth all sorts of shenaniganary ahead :3

140

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 27/04/2025

they're currently experiencing a class war, with a sprinkle of witch trials too. witch hunters operating as an unofficial militia punishing and executing those they think endanger the city with their magic. the pcs have already taken down one of their main leaders, though so we'll see what happens !

120

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 27/04/2025

the whole place is based on victorian london! so you'd encounter a lot of urchins, pickpockets etc. if you went inside the walls you'd find the richest people in the world, hoarding their power safely behind closed doors. the exterior slums are run by crime lords (one of which is lady's pc seorah!)

120

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 27/04/2025

class tension is probably my favourite tool when making cultures. being able to highlight what attributes help someone get ahead in a place really opens your eyes to the kind of systems that culture would have in place, and it makes it easy to populate these places with believable npcs!

110

lew @thecryingdm.bsky.social · 27/04/2025

Exactly what happened! The players asked about the more niche deities and I was like "on it boss" and came up with like 15 minor gods and their different worship styles! And it ended up that one of those minor gods became key to the current arc the PCs were playing! Funny how it ends up that way!
