Props to that one Italian ice place in a town 30 minutes away from me that's the only location that kept its limited cheesecake flavor, which led to me mixing it with their seasonal pumpkin pie Italian ice, cheesecake graham crackers, and vanilla ice cream. The end result was glorious.

From then on, I did my best to get into the series. So far: Lament, Dawn of Sorrow, CV 1, CV III (Western), CV IV, Order of Ecclesia, I am Kid Dracula, and Adventure Rebirth are the ones I finished. Sadly, I used save states in I am Kid Dracula due to the lack of checkpoints in the final level.

Interestingly, this game was the first time I finished a Castlevania game when I borrowed it from a friend. Prior to that, I played the first as a kid but couldn't get past stage 2, and my parents gave away the NES that was a hand-me down from my older half brother. Also, I got my revenge on CV1.

That Rayearth Game Gear complements the game's cute direction with the sprites. Since the series made a comeback this fall, I hope it leads to new games based on it, and/or ports of the older titles.

I haven't looked it up yet, but I found it fascinating how the fight in Geats featuring Buffa against an opponent with a strong barrier might be an Evangelion reference. Mainly since Buffa's colors and helmet share some similarities to Eva Unit-1, and the force field gave off AT field vibes.

As we all enter another spooky weekend during #RandomGameSaturday, it's time for me to bring out Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories. My favorite feature in the sequel is the passive skills, which add more spice to each unit's fortes, such as the lead getting to deal more damage against stronger enemies.

feels like a lot of video game discourse is fundamentally trying to "solve" the science of game design and identify all of the correct choices (contact damage, no yellow paint, no parries) and incorrect choices (random encounters, cutscenes) when everything is case-by-case anyway lol

It looks like most of the negative ones I read on Steam are related to a bug involving a black screen that doesn't seem to affect all players, since there are also some positive Steam reviews too. Interestingly, the game has a 4.19 out of 5 score for player rating on PSN.
