Making progress - so much cable

This poor guy was buzzing the deck roof & became covered in cobwebs,wings stuck together. It was huge, wingspan ~5". Some delicate work with a paintbrush & straw cleaner & they were good to go. There's still some cobweb in this pic, but I managed to get it all off - they live to fly another day.

Errol has been identified! They are a Podocanthus typhon, a pink winged phasmid. I won't be handling Errol as I respect Errol's boundaries, but if I did, I could reveal beautiful pink wings as below (pic by Magda Reardon, found on Pintrest) What a delightful visitor bie.ala.org.au/species/http...

A long green insect that looks a bit like a stick. Someone is holding the bugs wings out so they are visible - they are a beautiful medium pink.

Morning - found this delightful beast at the front door this morning - I have named them Errol... any entomologists care to give Errol a proper identification? A phasmid of sorts but exactly what kind? They're about 20cm long. Located in the Blue Mountains (on my verandah!)

It's a portent of doom - I actually used the old bananas and made the banana bread.

I love when the cockatoos get together to keep an eye on, but also hassle a snake. They are quite literally sticky beaks. I'm hoping it was the diamond python, but it could be the resident red belly. I couldn't see it, but they certainly can.

I MADE JAM!!! Had my pouring skills been better - it would have been 5 jars instead of almost 5... tastes like plum jam Thankyou for the advice on the jars (I am tasting the spills on fresh bread with butter 😁 - tastes like jam!)

Shelf emptied & no more crickets. No obvious entry point. How did it get in? Why was it in the empty cereal container? It was still alive - probably not in the best health, but still.. wtaf.. I wonder if this has anything to do with the medium size huntsman last week - perhaps a chase? 🤷‍♀️

Easiest method to sterilise jars for jam? I have a cherry plum tree that gave me a heap of fruit last year - it's been sitting "prepped to go" in the freezer because I am too afraid of sterilising the jars. Molten sugar lava - bring it on. Fuzzy mould on jam? 😱 Easy fail/fool proof methods?
