We used to have a fancy full-course meal at a restaurant on our last day of vacation, but instead I read like three manga and a good few hours of Please be Happy today and then cooked spaghetti for my wife and me. And no restaurant in the world could have put that smile she had on her face.

Whenever I pick up a new Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid manga I've already forgotten who all these characters are, why they're all related to each other and what they were up to in the meantime. This series has become so convoluted, it's a prime example for this comic.

Oof, do *I* have a girl boner for Bazu from Noman or what? How can one character tick all my boxes like that? She's practically Kuroko from Murcielago without being a completely obnoxious dickwad.

A photo of two pages from the manga Noman volume 2 depicting its main characters Bazu and Mashiro on a roof. Bazu is a tall, black-haired woman with jagged teeth wearing a black suit, high heeled boots and a crow mask and is oozing confidence.

In a time where lesbian art is under enormous pressure to be accommodating to the heterosexual view, shrinking it until it's invisible is just not interesting to me. We should be louder, and prouder, and refuse to go down without showing the complex and beautiful lives of sapphic love.

After a good night's pondering (that show really did a number on me) I now know what struck me as so odd in #sayonaralara 's ending. The theme of the show was love all along - Lara finding love, the premise being an unrequited love, love being destructive and bitter and healing, love, love, love.

How to salvage Sayonara Lara in three easy steps: 1. Set a timer to 18:12, then start episode 12 2. When the timer goes off, close the player 3. Reminisce about what an insightful, wholesome show that was

An eight-panel comic made of screenshots from Sayonara Lara.
1-Lara: "I want to be with you."
2-Mari: "U-huh."
3-Lara: "Like, live in a world with you in it."
4-Mari: "That's cool I guess."
5-Lara: "I love you way more than that Paco dude or whatever his name is"
6-Mari: "I love you too, you know?"
7-Lara staring intensely
8-Lara on a train: "lol k byeeeeeeeee"

Nope, don't agree with that ending to Sayonara Lara one bit. I can't believe that *this* is it. Maybe one day I'll read a lengthy discourse about why this story is extremely relevant to queerness in Japan specifically and then I'll be able to get it, but for now, I'm just... at a total loss.

Fun fact: "Reviewing an AI made translation" is more work for translators than just translating it themselves, because AI translations do not pass the sniff test beyond the most superficial. It's a loophole companies use as an excuse to underpay translators, and nothing else.

I think the reason most Magic players are fed up with Jace is that he was created and pushed under the misconception that most players want to be like him, the cool mind mage who knows everything 3 turns ahead, while the majority of us wants to be either some goblin or a lesbian elf.

Cleo H. @thecleo.de · 08/09/2026

I think about this a lot, esp. when I question my sanity for not liking that book/film/game everyone's fawning about. Never underestimate how far people are willing to go to convince themselves that they like things to join those who know what *real* art is. You have the *right* to dislike stuff!

Nah, I'm dropping The House in Fata Morgana after 12 hours and 4 chapters. It's just all so mediocre to me. The English writing is rather lifeless. The shocking moments aren't up to date. I don't particular care about the romance and I sure as hell won't accept an edgelord like Michel as the MC.

Cleo H. @thecleo.de · 05/09/2026

Well that's not too shabby if I do say so myself! 🧐

The splash screen from A Tithe in Blood for the chapter title. The original title of act one, scene two, "The Free-Spirited Librarian", can be seen at the bottom in white letters. The letters of "The Free-Spirited" are jumbled and the word "Librarian" has a dark red bloom behind it. Over it is the German translation, "Die freigeistige Bibliothekarin", in the same style.

I now have a companion numpad remapped to send ALT code characters with a single keystroke. (The {} ones sadly won't work as intended.) While this isn't all that relevant when editing a Word doc, this thing'll save me *hundreds* of keystrokes when translating a visual novel in VSC!

Ach so, das Original reimt sich gar nicht und hat auch kein Versmaß? Pffft.

Ein Spreadsheet mit zwei Zeilen. Die linke, betitelt „English“, enthält einige Zeilen eines Gedichts:
On a quiet night, the stars shimmer
In my dreams, I unexpectedly cry
Searching for the sound of your voice
As the shadows of the past slip away

Upon the wind, the trees gently smile
I reach out my hand trying to grasp them
But once more they slip away
These secrets within my heart

Die rechte Zeile, „German“ betitelt, enthält meine deutsche Übersetzung:
Still funkeln die Sterne in nächtlicher Ruh’

Oof, the ending of Kirio-kun Fanclub was even more devastating than I'd feared, with the only character whose feelings weren't entirely based on outward appearances getting sidelined and even made fun of. Yeah I know it was meant to be happy and amicable, but… it wasn't. It was sad as hell.

Of course Magic artwork has come a long way in almost 35 years, but some works are just freaking masterpieces. Even in times where corporations rely on disgusting genAI, artists like Dominik Mayer still deliver. Look. At. This.

Yooo I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what this bookstore's name is until I finally found the background asset where it originated from. I don't even think that store exists (it would be based in Shibuya). And it doesn't even come close to a recognizable Japanese name. Nope. Pass.
