I've always had an issue with folks stating that sports is a distraction from what matters. Like we can't keep track of both sports and politics? Sports serves a distraction from our everyday reality, yes. But so does art, science-fiction, music, and whatever hobby outside of work and family.

Looks at the dems since Reagan. This is entirely the case. The only times they've risen to the moment is during economic crises and that was only to settle the markets back down. When Trumps crashes the economy, the dems will rise up and 'fix' only because the shareholder class told them to do so.
