Many people forget Bill SImmons' Tooth & Nail era.

Not sure where to jump in on all this, but something something Joe Christmas. Can we get some respect on their name?

You got me. I wrote "style" instead of "still," thus nullifying the entire point.

It's a good song though. Like, it's hugeness is a weird anomaly, but in a vacuum, it's a great little George Strait throwback co-written by an actual songwriting genius.

Holy shit, a guy tells an out of pocket joke in the 90s, apologizes about it years later, and you're style going full BlueSky about it after his death?

Watch it. It's always the comedies that end the most tragically.

I would also suggest that her disco (Great Balls Of Fire) and yacht rock (Dolly Dolly Dolly) pivots represent some very compelling work, while New Harvest...First Gathering threads the needle between old and new Dolly perfectly.

Carson @thecarsonmills.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
The underreported thing about Dolly is that she has some albums. Her best, I think, is New Harvest...First Gathering. It's her first foray as an independent artist (independent of Porter Wagoner). It's a beautiful masterpiece.

It'll probably be exactly the cut that Amazon has. Some painful cuts, but so far I've been surprised how much music actually made it through (Zeppelin!!)

Aw man, I like latter day Cam. Please don't associate him with Chappelle.

This is the correct answer. I think this is the final arrival point of Steely Dan fandom.

I mean, standing by ALL of ANY SNL would be foolish. I always found Lasser's episode to be pretty benign. It basically feels like an extension of an episode of Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.

I've made my peace with the culture issues with the church (my church was always relatively progressive), but I found that Contemporary Worship music held no artistic value. That never sat right with me.

The best thing about those really shitty late 70s Beach Boys albums is the one or two Dennis tracks that knock you on your ass while the rest of the band is singing "Shortenin' Bread" or some shit.

I'm observing parking lots!!!! Are my eyes lying to me?? People can't back in to parking spots. It takes forever and it's annoying and people need to stop.

This is all false. Every person who backs into their spot takes 2-10x longer than those backing out. I've never seen someone do it efficiently.

Sitting in for an irreplaceable icon, Anika Nilles set out to make Rush's music "feel right for the fans." On Sunday night, she helped to make that dream come true.

Yeah, I'm kinda there with them. I saw a very recent interview with Chris Rock where he referenced Kanye and Kendrick as his top two guys, and I thought it was the corniest answer anyone could have given.

So much excitement with the Saturation series and then, bam, irrelevance.

Agreed. The upper-tier material this season, I believe, has been exceptional and full of all the twists and turns one could hope from SNL. But the middle and lower-tier stuff has always felt a bit rote. Same as it ever was.

But the recent hand-wringing over Pinkerton is one big eyeroll for me. People trying to dismiss Weezer on moral grounds. Please. Just say you were too old for Blue and you are relieved to not have to wade through the later years and be done with it.

Carson @thecarsonmills.bsky.social · 27/03/2026
When I was in my pre-teen years, the stuff that won over my Weird Al brain was silly fluff like Barenaked Ladies and Presidents of the USA...so of course Weezer felt like an advanced study in that.

It's like how I absolutely detested The Killers when they first came out, but everyone younger than me was crazy for them. I was 12 when the Blue Album came out. It was approachably aggressive - I was the perfect age. It made no sense to the grunge kids and certainly not the pre-grunge sensitivos

I always felt the equation for Pinkerton was Crooked Rain filtered through In Utero. I don't know, the olds are cranky in this thread, but it all just speaks to me about how the tiniest difference in generation will make you irrational about certain bands.
