Oklahoma man gets prison time for posting on X that ICE agents should be shot
TULSA — An Oklahoma man has been sentenced to federal prison for posting on social media that ICE agents should be shot, gunned down and executed. Logan Christopher Murfin, 26, of Skiatook, was ordered to serve 21 months in prison for posting on X about U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement agents last year. A jury in April convicted the former casino worker over five of 10 posts that the government deemed illegal threats. He was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 10, in federal court in Tulsa. An appeal on free speech grounds is expected. U.S. District Judge Gregory K. Frizzell decided his punishment at a hearing that lasted almost two hours. Murfin apologized in court to ICE agents for his posts and to his family for disappointing them. "I had a moment of weakness and made the human mistake of not thinking before speaking," he told the judge. He acknowledged that he could have voted or gone to a protest instead. "I chose to make those statements and that was wrong," he said.
