Back in my day (about 20-ish years ago), Cerritos Library cards used to be free to the surrounding cities. But then they changed it to just those within Cerritos.

My favorite Comic creators use ComicFury (so hopefully they're a good website). I heard bad things about Webtoons ripping off Comic creators.

Frequent LA Metro rider here. I want all of the above + free fares. Especially since our taxes already pays for the majority of LA Metro's budget. Only 1.5% of LA Metro fare revenue even goes to the LA Metro budget (that's before the 6% farebox recovery ratio).

Also if you're following the news, you'll know that we Americans are sick & tired of status quo policies & corporate politicians. The Left has been winning more races by running on Progressive Policies. I pray to God we can have more Progressives and Zohrans who will fight for We The People (3/3)

A better system would be to eliminate the barrier & have a free fareless system so that low income riders (91% of all riders) can benefit. Why does it matter that the 9% of non low-income riders would also benefit if 9 out of 10 LA Metro riders are the low income riders benefiting the most? (2/3)

The-Blue-Phantom @thebluephantom.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
? According to LIFE's own data, only 7% of the 91% total LA Metro riders have joined the LIFE program. But of those 7%, only 15% remain active after 6 months. So the Fare Reduction "LIFE" program acts more of a bureaucratic barrier for low income riders. (1/3)

Also, I find it interesting that you would invoke God's name to attack low income/poor riders (by making it more difficult for them to use public transit when they're the ones that need it the most). I've heard from LA Metro Board of transit riders choosing between paying food/bills & transit fares.

Also not paying fares = skipping the fare box & not holding the bus driver in 1 spot. Which leads to faster + more frequent buses (less RSH). Seriously if you ever ride LA Metro on a free ride day (like I have), you would know that buses arrive earlier to your bus stop and travel much faster. (2/2)

The reason why NYC doesn't have free buses (yet) is because Governor Hochul and her MTA Board Members are roadblocking Mayor Mamdani from enacting free fares. So Mamdani is moving forward with other urgent transit needs (like bus lanes) in the meanwhile. But he's still pushing for free fares. (1/2)

I too rode LA Metro during the 2020/2021 pandemic. I felt less safe in 2024-2025 than during the pandemic. And there were less crimes in 2020 than when fares returned after 2021. 91% of all LA Metro riders have low incomes that qualify them for the LIFE (so they should be riding for free anyway).

? You can have free fares & also have faster, cleaner, safer & more frequencies. Fare Revenue makes 1.5% of LA Metro's budget (w/ cost to maintain fares eats most of the revenue), in person security keeps us safe & not fares (code of conduct can be enforced w/o fares) & buses travel faster w/o fares

@nithyaforthecity.bsky.social Today Karen Bass announced she's pushing for a plan to finally get LA Metro to be fare free. Are you Nithya Raman going to let her outflank you from the Left and take away your voters? Or will you be pushing for LA Metro be fare free if elected Mayor? Source: 1:14:51

Who says raising taxes is even needed to do pipe inspections? Also if more funds are needed for pipeline repairs, I say look into the $152 million in police liability settlements (just last year alone) and also the ever ballooning police budget of $3 billion dollars annually.

It's cheaper to replace the aging pipelines before they burst. Compared to when those pipes bursts, paying the financial/economic consequences, and just playing wak-a-mole in the replacing aging pipeline problem. Same thing with sidewalk repairs before an accident happens & paying financial conseq.

Please continue pushing for Rank Choice Voting, City Council Expansion, & Police Accountability Reform. These are popular reforms that the people of LA want. Those establishments at the City Council wouldn't have roadblocked those ideas in November election if they didn't think it would have passed

Voting twice for something is cruelly bureaucratic, wasting election resources, and benefits the status quo.

And that's why Nithya Raman's District 4 looks like the way it does. And yet, she still got relected by a majority during the March 2024 election. Here's to hoping city of LA gets that independent redistricting from the Charter Reform process.

I'm hoping (at least for the City of LA) that there will be Rank Choice Voting. But we may likely have to wait a while before that can be enacted/voted on.

Thankfully, Rae Huang supporters (the estimated 10% that would have voted for her) have largely decided to strategically vote for Nithya Raman because they knew they would need to carry Nithya Raman over the finish line (denying Spence Pratt any chance of becoming LA Mayor, & to take on Karen Bass).

Nithya Raman better start getting a team on the ground at the Ballot Processing Center doing ballot curing (or at least observing). I feel we are all traffic controllers observing a plane about to make a hard landing at an airport. She needs to get a team there now and not after the plane lands.

The-Blue-Phantom @thebluephantom.bsky.social · 05/06/2026
At least it's not false hope. Mathematically speaking, based on the return results so far and the amount of ballots still outstanding, Nithya Raman still has a chance.

That's because FL and TX don't accept Mailed Ballots after election day. But because we in CA don't want to disenfranchise voters, Election Officials accept Vote-By-Mail ballots up to 7 days (as long as it's Postmarked on/before election day). Plus CA has bigger population than Texas & Florida.
100
The-Blue-Phantom @thebluephantom.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
Florida & Texas Vote-By-Mail ballots must be received no later than Election Day. While CA allows for Election Day postmarked ballots to be received no later than 7 days (in order to not disenfranchise voters). Combine with the previous reasons I gave, that's why CA takes longer than TX & FL.

They did. They just expanded into the new Ballot Processing Center mega building a few years ago (which allowed for more workers to be hired). LA County has a higher voting population than the vast majority of States. Now add the rest of CA Voting Pop. & many voters wanting to vote last minute.

They are still working around the clock even they're not scanning/counting (which are the last steps). If you've ever been to the Processing Center (which I have), you will see its like a factory of workers all opening, sorting, verifying... etc. You're welcome to watch their live stream here:

Wouldn't it be less confusing if the taller fare gates were in an "Open" position continuously. That way, riders that are trying to TAP aren't wondering why the gate is not reading their TAP card and opening?

And if you have no choice but to drop off your Vote-By-Mail at a Post Office, make sure you have a Clerk at the front counter Postmark your ballot in front of you.

At the very least it should then be one of the Mayor's 3 appointees. Otherwise the Mayor is showing us she just wants control/power over LA Metro's direction.

Karen Bass was just Chair during the 2023-2024 FY. It should go to a different Board member that hasn't been Chair yet. Not to mention if Bass losses her re-election (or doesn't even make it to the top 2 winners this June 2nd election) LA Metro will lose another Board Chair just like Fernando Dutra.

This doesn't appear to be from a pro-Spencer Pratt group (too vague with too many times "Republican" is repeated). This is very likely a pro-Karen Bass group propping up Spencer Pratt to make it into the top 2 stops (the Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump failed strategy). Here's an example discussed:
latimes.com
Union-funded 'attack ad' against Pratt seems aimed at helping him make runoff, analysts say
Unions backing Bass may be calculating that Pratt would be easier to beat than Raman in a runoff, analysts say

I'd argue it definitely helps LA County reindents like me who needs a much easier connection from the C (Green) line station to Norwalk's Metrolink station (to go to OC and Riverside) without having to take a poor frequency Norwalk Transit bus to reach Metrolink.

The-Blue-Phantom @thebluephantom.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
If LA County Federation thinks that Karen Bass is going to easily beat Spencer Pratt, then they are delusional. This is the same strategy in 2016 where groups boosted Trump because Hillary Clinton thought she could more easily defeat Trump.
