I have the theory that it’s to be able to show emotion in a way that is accepted by other men. I’ve worked in sports bars all my life and you see men celebrating and crying and hugging and smiling and singing. Stuff a lot of the older generation aren’t terribly comfortable with in every day life!

I get what you’re saying. I just think you’re looking at musicals as a genre when musicals house many genres. Of course there are musicals that are psychological thrillers, just as there are musicals that are comedies, dramas, loads where the music is escapist or in peoples heads.

The above quote was followed by this “The way that music is used is to really give the characters a way to express what they mean to say because the scene and just the dialogue is not enough.” Which literally describes musicals. It’s just confusing!

No, I don’t think she hates musicals, but there’s no denying that they were all ready strange around the idea of Joker being a musical. Todd Phillips more that the cast, but Gaga did have a few strange quotes about musicals

I think the performers and creators of joker constantly distancing themselves from the fact that it’s a musical, even in cases looking down on musical theatre, massively isolated the film from the very audience that would have boosted it… musical theatre fans.

I saw the play twice and I get why it *ahem* popular, but I just wasn’t moved by it. I’m not its target audience anyway, so it’s not really a knock on it. The film actually made me emotional. I loved it, and seeing how my wife and daughter (both huge fans) reacted to it was great!

The wicked movie is better than the stage show! I’m a huuuuge theatre nerd, who has never been a massive fan of the stage show and I loved the movie. It was a master class in how to use cinema to improve on, while also respecting source material! Unreal performance from everyone too!

When did KO turn on Cody? After The Rocks surprise return. We know KO and Sami are friends, they’ve had issues with the bloodline in the past and we know that The Rock wants to take out both Roman & Cody. This way he can do it without lifting a finger If this isn’t the story it should be!
