So where are they finding $5 worth of value for me? I'll spend $50, $60 on a video game because I know I'm probably going to get dozens of hours or more of entertainment value from it. A comic book is read in 10 minutes. If the story isn't going to stick with me or feel meaningless...

But Daredevil, Captain America, and Iron Man all have interesting and fun ongoings that Marvel has taught me will vanish in less than a year with the next volume bearing little to no relation to whatever story is there now.

Fantastic Four is consistently good to great. As is Uncanny X-Men. Moon Knight and Thor are excellent. Amazing Spider-Man ... Kelly's run has been much better than what came before.

X-Men United is not good. Gambit Gone is more confusion stemming out of an already lackluster X-Men of the Apocalypse. Inglorious X-Force had promise and looks to be headed towards cancelation. Doctor Strange had an intriguing premise that it didn't live up to, and now it's done, too.

Though we also can't ignore that Wolverine is pretty much the only character in comic book history to launch from a team (besides his one prior Hulk appearance) and successfully spin out a constant solo career. Cable is really the only other one who comes close.

And part of that is on us - we the readers needed to invest if we wanted Phoenix, Psylocke, Rogue, Cyclops, Magik, or Moonstar to get more adventures and by whatever metrics they're using, we didn't.

All the mutant solo books spinning out of Krakoa went nowhere, and Marvel has also trained us at this point to not care about a character getting a new series because it'll get canceled after 10 issues if we're lucky, 5 if we're not.

Orlando's last run, Sorcerer Supreme, was a big whiff. Same for Storm's solo and Infernal Hulk - just all sizzle and no steak, but even the sizzle fades long before the title ends.

I always love it when a comic surprises you, taking a premise that sounds bad and completely subverting your expectations. The last time I remember it happening was Weapon H, which made an excellent story out of "what if The Hulk was also Wolverine?" This week, The Amazing Venom did the same.

Typically the request would be made of the state Department of Transportation. There's a chance it would belong to the FAA but you can always FOIA both. If it works the same as it does in DC, a response is required in 15 business days BUT there's a law enforcement exemption that they may try to use.
