I am reading Wild Faith: How Thé Christian Right is Taking Over America by Talia Lavin. While it is nice to read someone else expressing a lot of what I have tried to tell ppl since leaving the church, it’s also very depressing.

What secret have you learned later in life about yourself as an #adoptee? I had no idea I was in foster care for the first month of my life. Didn't know I was in the ICU for a week either. Of course I never knew my birth story until I met with my first mother when I was 48. What about you? 🥚

I am late discovery, at 33. In my late 40s, early 50s I learned my AD didn’t want to adopt, they were disappointed I look more like my dad than my mom, that I was a foster child until 13 months old, that my family was lied to àbt my AP’s, that the USAF ànd UK worked together to force adoptions

I am so sorry you have ànd àre living that. I told my Amom shortly before she died. She asked why I waited so long. I said, bc you would have kicked me out. She admitted that, yes, she would have- at 12, which is when I knew. Ppl who hate queer ppl shouldn’t parent. IMO

Thank you. It was really hard. I am still trying to stop hearing the negative voices. Being adopted has definitely made it more complicated from the sense that I was afraid to tell Afam ànd afraid to tell family bc all of them are religious. I have major trust and abandonment issues, so, yay!

That is such a perfect description! Ànd I taught in a lot of fourth grade classrooms! How do laws pass, Donald? Um, they are laws ànd they get passed and, um, people write them on paper and they are laws. Ànd stuff.
