June 2026 marks my ten year anniversary of being a self-employed artist - now I give up. Seriously. Today sucked big time. The car being just the cherry on top. I know there will come better times and I'll do everything in my power to turn the tides but I'd really could use some help now.

Textpost: Hi, I need your help.
I struggle to find the right words and I really hesitated to make this post, but long story short. I’m currently financial wise in a very dire situation. Today I got hit by a heavy bill I cannot pay on my own (car repairs and I do need the car for upcoming conventions in August) Also there soon will come up other expenses, I do not have the funds for anymore.

Doddles of two cats in the bottom "The expenses Krümel... and Muffin"

Textpost: How did this happen?
Lately conventions and sales didn’t work out as well, as I was used to (if I even got into) I lost a long term project at the beginning of the year, one day before it should actually start - which messed up my planning completely and I couldn’t replace it since then.
On top of that I have been on and off sick since early 2025 - making me unable to work fulltime … and draining my savings. Because next to being exhausting and hindering me to do my job, the now known reason was bad and needed treatment, but not that bad that you’d die off from - so… you pay everything by yourself :D At least I feel much better already - hurray.

Textpost: What now?
I am in the process of retiring (or at least significantly shrinking down) my freelancing and am looking for an employed job, which can support me and my comic making. Something I do not want and can never give up.

However… It will be still until September before I have wrapped up all my current obligations and can make the switch and with these new bills I am so, so scared to pile up debts I don’t know how to get rid of again. It really terrifies me. (And regularly puts me in a panic freeze, making me unable to work again - doesn’t help either)

Textpost:
So I am turning to you asking.
If you have the means to help and ever enjoyed my art or a story of mine. Can you help me?
Buy something in my Shop or Commission me.
Maybe join my Patreon for longer time support to help stabilize me, until I figured out this situation.
If you can not - and I really do understand! I’d love a share. Everything helps.
Thank you.
Caro

Ever wondered what this “VA” is - I speak about, here and there. Well hear me out: “Vom Anfang” is my longform fantasy adventure dramedy graphic novel, which has been my bebi since 2016, but tbh even longer. You can read it www.vom-anfang.de or get the books at www.carolin-reich.de/produkt-kate...

Promotional image for the Comics "Vom Anfang" Epik Fantasyillustration in the middle surrounded by buzzwords: "7 Volume Graphic Novel" "Girl and Gods, elves and dragons and a gun!" - female lead, warrior girls, soft princes, corrupt mages, confused cops and THIS guy - YA Fantasy Adventure Dramedy, Being a chosen one sucks! NO romance, but world-ending stuff. Yai!

New banner image! Used the chance to show of a few characters from some of my many projects ✨ If you're interested check the comments for more info on them. I quite enjoyed drawing them interacting with one another, even if it's just a little xD

From L to R: Bartholomew, big bird-human hybrid with feathers on his arms and a long beard. Brown skin, dark brown beard and he wears a red top with a tight hood around his head and brown pants. His design is inspired by the great horned owl. He has his eyes closed and his hands together in a clap, forming a happy expression.
Princess Satjah, also a bird-human hybrid. Very light yellow-ish skintone and her hair is long, wavy and light blond. Wears a white dress. Feathers have a brown fade towards the end. She looks happily at Toto.
M.O.M is an old-looking robot with a few replaced parts. He has rings around his eyes which makes it look like he's wearing glasses. The letters "M.O.M." are on the lower part of his stomach. He looks concerned about:
Emly is a human girl with light brown hair in two long voluminous pigtails. She wears a mechanics outfit and happily lifts up a creature. It's her dog Toto, a brown alien on four legs, with four eyes, two thin upstanding ears and a thin blue tongue that hangs out of his mouth.
Taylor, a young woman with animalistic head-features and long dark red hair. She is wearing a green t-shirt and dark grey high-waist pants. Her arms are crossed and she looks annoyed at Emly, who is pushing against her.
Mainlen, a small young man (also with animalistic head-features) with relatively short messy black hair. He wears a red jacket with a white t-shirt underneath. He is holding a clipboard and looks up at Taylor with a soft friendly expression.
Titus, a tall, thin, green goblin, wears brown fantasy clothes. Big sword is resting on his shoulder and looks over to M.O.M.
Kali, a raven woman dressed in black, with hood. She looks calm and sophisticated.
Edward, a skeleton wearing a dark red suit with thin white stripes. He lifts his top hat with a friendly expression.
Elise, little girl with blond wavy hair and a light blue dress, she looks down at:
Lumi, black cat, looking over at:
The postman-fairy (in front of Edgar), looking up curiously.
