Divination for Decolonization with Christopher Marmolejo (Hybrid)
This talk with Christopher Marmolejo will engage the Tarot as cypher for decolonizing consciousness.

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 13/03/2025
They will be discussed as tools to reengage alternative epistemologies assaulted by colonial imperialism. The tarot is an affective archive that, when supplanted with a liberatory language and framework, may challenge and delegitimize colonial structures within and without.

Don't miss my my talk at UBC on March 20 at 4:30 PM PST. This talk will engage the tarot as cypher for decolonizing consciousness. Within divination one can find a dignity that is denied in dominator culture. The cards are neurological pivots, subverting the logical dominance of society and self.

“We are her when we refuse to abandon hope. When we let joy be born again, we are sustained by her. When we are ready to trust her, we are ready to be liberated in love.” This just really struck me today. Thank you @the-red-read.bsky.social #resist #tarot #tarotsky
Lightseer’s Tarot by Chris-Anne Donnelly
Queen of Cups

A woman with red long hair and brown skin wearing a red tank top dress sits in a blue ethereal setting. From waist down she appears to be in the water with a bowl floating on the white wispy surface. Her hands are up and open, her head tilted back with eyes closed. Almost in a trance looking a state. A whisper of a crown is about 6-8 inches floating above her head.

Join in me in such a wayward walk by signing up TENz and transform your tarot by seeing it as a codex for the horoscope informed by critical theorists such as Hartman. We begin Aries season 🗡️

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
For Hartman, waywardness is a mode of escape, an activity by which the Black body slips out of the trap of liberal personhood and falls into a wild and extravagant relation to beauty and freedom so clearly the 7 of swords right ?

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
Hartman defines ‘waywardness’ as “the practice of the social otherwise, the insurgent ground that enabled new possibilities and new vocabularies…it is a queer resource of black survival. It is a beautiful experiment in how to live.”
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 26/02/2025
I coin this decan the Wayward decan. Saidiya Hartman has defined ‘waywardness’ as a form both of early 20th century criminality and of wild mobility outside of liberal structures of rule.

The Moon is in the last decan of Aquarius , shedding its light as it prepares to be renewed as a new moon on Pisces. The Moon is in its own decan here.

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
The decans, the cards become a codex for a critical apparatus in my work. They connect the divine to the Decolonial struggle of our times and illuminate a red path for us to continue walking down. TENZ starts Aries season

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
This decan is in my 9th house, of spirituality, teaching and astrology. And as is the natal promise I offer TENZ as study in the ancient astrology of decans but push it further.
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
Regularly and ritually burn your old sh*t. Cleanse yourself from being possessed by your possessions. Be brave and summon the spirit associated with the decan to buck with tradition and create something new, somewhere old, and the young will bless the old.
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
This decan calls us to consider what values are a pillar and which beliefs make the body a prison. It calls for dispossession as a truly radical anti capitalist act.
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
A body so tense that it can release. Here are all the hoarding old patriarchs who’d rather have dead objects than a world with trees, fresh air and family. Old, cold distant emotions and defensiveness spur from a lack of boundaries.
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 24/02/2025
The moon is in the last decan of Capricorn which corresponds to the 4 of pentacles. In the smith Waite image we see a strict and severely solitary figure. His material rigidity freezes him place and it becomes an image of constipation.

My prayers, my practices, and my spiritual relationships have gotten so much stronger since I began a divinatory practice, and moreso as I began teaching divination. If you are seeking sanctuary out of the bounds of patriarchal religion, I invite into TENZ, a year long course in decanic tarot.

The Ekklēsia of Women today are claiming their spiritual powers, forming their own circles of prophecy and revelation and support and nurture their communities, as it was done before the patriarchal church genderized religion.” -Hettiene Gobler @bhaktyma

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
“Ekklēsia is the term for church. It is an actual assembly of free people who gather to decide their own spiritual-political affairs. Women in the patriarchal church cannot decide their own theological-spiritual-religious affairs and that of ‘their people’, all women…

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
And the Ekklēsia of Women is about Saturn’s women who don’t just the work land but are in sacred spiritual relationship with the land, with their sisters, lovers, husbands, sons and daughters and themselves.

Imagine us gathered in circular banquet around a great grandmother Oak and then we sing. Imagine we are a congregation gathered and led by not just women, but especially them. We pray and we sing and we commune. The work will one day be done.

we must conjure up flowers, wind, water, a big rock. And at the end of the Wands is the obvious truth that candles never wax, but wane, burning themselves out as smoky plumes stroke the air. So for this is a prayer we will continue turning to the prophecy of queer black women

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
While the moon was in its own decan yesterday , I drew its accompanying card , the 9 of wands and likewise drew the 10 of wands today. But this ten of wand was about the ekklēsia of women.

The last decan of sag is tiring because it’s Saturnian. It’s every resource spent to make it across the finish line. It’s land laborers & it’s land duties. Its ancestral reverence. It’s bodies that break to provide fresh fruit. It’s dry and it’s tired and it’s class consciousness.

The second day is centered on application with a focus on how to use the cards in a reading for yourself or others.
100
The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
Participants also explore tarot as a radical epistemology that shifts the authority of knowing into the hands of the people themselves.

The Red Read @the-red-read.bsky.social · 22/02/2025
On the first day, participants examine how tarot cards can be read to subvert the dynamics of white supremacist-capitalist-imperialist-patriarchy, weaving historical context and spiritual practice into a comprehensive overview of tarot.

Leonard Peltier was put on trial during Venus Rx in Aries back in 1977. The prosecution rest its case during the inferior conjunction (exactly opposite his natal Venus-Mars). Peltier received clemency this year + has returned to his homelands. Venus stations rx at the degree he was found guilty at.
