🧙🏻‍♂️ & I attended an MTG The Hobbit Prerelease event today. We each receivd 6 booster packs to open, w/ an hour to make a deck each to play w/. This event was done in pairs, so we could use all our cards to make the decks. I managed to open 3 x Smaug The Magnificent cards! 🧙🏻‍♂️ piloted a red deck. We won❤️

Sat club session #1 for this term went smoothly! The members fenced a large pool, and I took a group of seven newcomers through a Come and Try session. That was followed by a short meeting of the state fencing association Board to make sure we're all set for the AGM next week. 🤘🏻🤺

My favourite fencing gear brand, Uhlmann, is closing in October. I'm devastated. In ~24 years of fencing, Uhlmann's gear has always outlasted my Leon Paul stuff. The Combination glove is the BEST, and the thought that I won't still be rocking Uhlmann gear when I'm in my 80's makes me very sad. 🤺😭

I came out as trans 11 years ago & by far 2 of my favourite associated things are: 1) When friends tell me they or their kid are trans and ask for advice and community connection, and 2) When T&GD folks of any age join the fencing club & I see them relax when they realise they're safe & welcome. 😭🥰

It's always kind of bittersweet listening to podcasts and audiobooks about ADHD because yeah, it's affirming to be reminded that I'm not being lazy, my brain legitimately likes making my life challenging to manage, but also medication isn't magic and life is going to continue to be a lot of work. 😬😭

We had a productive morning! Early trip to drop 🧙🏻‍♂️❤️ at work, then Hazel and I stuck fencing club info around the CBD, & last but not least we spent some time throwing/chasing sticks at one of our favourite spots near home. 🥰 Listening to the radio & imagining 🧙🏻‍♂️ working behind the scenes. ❤️

Proud coach moment. D (left) has made a huge leap with his fencing recently. He's the gentle dad of a family at the club.
