So cool to see the work from our CURE class come out in print (with 14 student co-authors)! Class formats like this are so impactful and the most fun to teach.

Pure sculptural form. But the living kind, around which our precious living biosphere revolves. 🌎

Cooler days mean long field days are far less torturous - plenty of time to help collect soil samples for soil microbiome analysis with the lab! (My sun exposure strategy is not to be exposed, hence the full getup… given that I ended a long, shadeless day without a single sunburn, I’d say I win!)

If you're funded by NSF, or in the middle of writing a proposal (or review!) for NSF, here's our agency's lapse plan. Basically you can still do those things but will have no help or communication from us (sorry, we hate it too!) www.nsf.gov/pubs/2023/sh...

Being a lab manager is great, there are so many side quests I’m learning so many transferable skills like Power Tools and Customs Forms and Remembering to Only Reply All for Important Emails

High levels of ecological richness, brain stimulus, and beauty: these things go hand in hand. Places where nature is thriving are simply much nicer, and more interesting, to be in.
