Hey Claude go build me a model for supporting a credit card business, stick it in my Oracle Database and then populate it with real looking test data. 15 minutes later... thanks MCP!
relational diagram showing tables and how they are related to one another alongside a look at once of those tables (CREDIT_CARDS) and some of the sample data my AI generated for me - in my Oracle Database, as shown in SQL Developer extension for VS Code.

it's there for the install adb path ords install adb --help and the interactive gives you the ability to specify if you want we can also read in the passwords from a file, as shown officially in Docs non-interactive, supply pwd => docs.oracle.com/en/database/... (2.1.4.3)

remember, the purpose of this resource is for folks learning sql, how to build apps/use oracle db - not for the aspiring dba pretend you are a dba, and a fresher/intern asked for an account on one of your databases, what privs would you give them? We probably have given you more.

That's means its approximately 10x easier/faster today than it was yesterday to get started using/learning Oracle, databases, sql, and in general, data management.

Claude is smart enough to know I didn't run that many miles, so it did some maths based on the elapsed time per run I had recorded in my oracle database table, and decided (CORRECTLY) that Strava uses METERS And i just told it to look in my fun database and figure out how many miles I've ran...

In 3 hours @krisrice.io and I will brief you on what we've been working on and released yesterday... Sign-up here go.oracle.com/LP=148902?el... The LLMs are good at answering your questions, but also adding context, finding things I might miss. An MCP Server for the Oracle Database.
Using SQLcl's MCP Server for Oracle Database, I asked my AI agent to i "to use my fun connection and tell me what my favorite beer was"

it did the following to answer my question:
 0 - asked for permission to use the SQLcl Tools
 1 - grabbed list of connections
 2 - got permission to use FUN connection
 3 - queried to get list of tables in my schema
 4 - recognized UNTAPPD
 5 - used DESC to confirm it was what it thought it was
 6 - queried all 5 star reviews by me
 7 - did so again but with a count(*) aggregate
 8 - answered my question, and then some

Having a play with an oldie but goodie Oracle SQL feature, SELECT APPROX_COUNT_DISTINCT as demonstrated by our database pm Killian. Follow along www.killiansbytes.com/post/fast-co... Try it for free livesql.oracle.com/next Hint: limit rows from 10m to 500
Using Oracle Database SQL function APPROX_COUNT_DISTINCT to get dramatically faster queries with up to 97% accuracy.

Instead of checking every single value, it uses statistical methods to estimate the count. This means we get queries that run dramatically faster while staying around about 3% of the exact count.

Today is the day I realized Oracle Database 23ai ships with a ton of built-in DOMAINs You can see these via select name,data_display from all_domains where owner = 'SYS' order by name;
SQL> create table if not exists domains (
  2       city city_d,
  3       country country_d,
  4       mobile phone_number_d
  5  );

Table DOMAINS created.

SQL> ddl domains
  CREATE TABLE "HR"."DOMAINS"
   (	"CITY" VARCHAR2(100) DOMAIN "SYS"."CITY_D",
	"COUNTRY" VARCHAR2(100) DOMAIN "SYS"."COUNTRY_D",
	"MOBILE" VARCHAR2(17) DOMAIN "SYS"."PHONE_NUMBER_D"
   );
