Now out in Hippocampus!! 📣💥 We examined anatomical inputs to the hippocampal region in six species - the tenrec, rat, marmoset, cat, macaque, and human - and found that hippocampal processing operates on fundamentally different types of information across species! (1/3) dx.doi.org/10.1002/hipo...

Phylogeny of Cortical‐Hippocampal Projections Reveals Selective Elimination of Input From Sensory Regions
The study of cross-species differences in the organization of the cerebral cortex received significant attention during the past century. However, the evolutionary principles governing changes in bra...

In our new review (Neuroimage: Clinical), we argue that 7T MRI may help link Functional Neurological Disorders to measurable brain disturbances and position it as a model of reversible circuit dysfunction between neurology & psychiatry: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2213158226000318

Long wondered how grid cell activity translates to the hexadirectional fMRI signal. Almog et al. have a neat answer — it's firing *variance* rather than mean rate. Makes sense when you think about it. Worth reading if you work on grid cells or fMRI. doi.org/10.64898/2026.03.04.709667

1 To predict the behaviour of a primate, would you rather base your guess on a closely related species or one with a similar brain shape? We looked at brains & behaviours of 70 species, you’ll be surprised! 🧵Thread on our new preprint with @r3rt0.bsky.social , doi.org/10.1101/2025...

A big thank you to all those who have been so positive about my new book. It's about how neurological patients can tell us so much about our selves, how personal and social identities are forged by different cognitive functions, and what it means to belong.

Ricardo Insausti, a Giant in medial temporal lobe anatomy, has passed. Classical neuroanatomy is fading just as it becomes crucial for understanding brain circuits and symptoms. Grateful to Menno Witter and @hipposubfields.bsky.social for having interacted with him. 🔗 www.mdpi.com/about/announ...

Showed a glimpse of a new atlas that we're building in Paris yesterday. Pretty excited about it and implications for network modeling.
