For the first time, the World Cup final four teams includes only the top 4 teams in FIFA world rankings (1+2+3+4). The combined ranks of the last four teams couldn't be lower (10). In the past, the four last teams have always added up to over 25. HT @chartycharts

I’m excited to represent @desmos.com at the @nctm.org #NCTMINDY26 Spring Conference, February 11-13, in Indianapolis! It's always a pleasure to talk math with educators, and I get the added bonus of sharing about Desmos & the power of dynamic geometry software. nctm.org/indianapolis2026 #iteachmath
Promotional graphic for the NCTM Spring Conference 2026 in Indianapolis (February 11–13). The background is blue with the large text “I’M PRESENTING!” and the word “INDY” spelled using photo cutouts. The photos show educators at a conference: one person smiling and flashing peace signs at a table, two people collaborating over a large sheet of paper, a woman listening attentively during a session, and a crowd of conference attendees walking through an exhibit hall. The NCTM logo and Spring Conference branding appear at the top.

One of the highlights of OCTM this past week was attending Mike Browne's session on "Introducing Students to Calculus" where he shared this delightful visual that he constructed of unwrapping the area of a circle into a triangle. #octmconnects #ohioctm
A wooden board, approximately 1.5x2.5 feet, painted blue with carved tracks in the shape of a circle with concentric rings, and long horizontal lines extending out from the circle rings. The presenter is shown starting to drag a thin metal chain along one of the tracks from the circular ring down to the straight path.

It was a great way to wrap up the @nctm.org Annual Meeting presenting on Geometry in @desmos.com. Looking forward to sharing again next week back in Ohio at OCTM! (For those curious, the slide in the picture was not about Geometry…we got off on a tangent looking at some example graphs)

Excited to head to Atlanta next week for the @nctm.org Annual Meeting! I'll be representing @desmos.com with a session on dynamic geometry software on Saturday. I’m putting together my agenda of sessions to attend — any recommendations? #iteachmath

#MathArt project in calculus class today. Students generated "Reimondrian" art in @desmos.com. (Inspired by @mathzorro.bsky.social). Reimondrian is a mash up of Reimann sums and Piet Mondrian art. Some very creative students. #ITeachMath #MathsToday

Loving these trippy geometric patterns, and couldn't resist recreating these delightful squircles in @desmos.com www.desmos.com/calculator/p...

Fun one to visualize in #Desmos #Geometry - Given a regular n-gon inscribed in a unit circle, the product of the chords from one vertex of the polygon to all the others is equal to n. www.desmos.com/geometry/pb3... Inspiration from this delightful poster: diffgeom.com/products/pro... #MathSky

A delightful Geometry theorem, illustrated using the #Desmos Geometry tool with visual shading and calculations showing the equivalent lengths. #🧮 www.desmos.com/geometry/bpn...
On a circle, points A, B, and C form an arc. Point D is the midpoint of the arc. Segments AB and BC are drawn, and a perpendicular line from point D down to segment AB. Segment AB is shaded blue, and segments EB and BC are shaded orange, demonstrating their equivalence.Calculation demonstrating that the length of AE is equal to the sum of EB and BC.

When using custom colors in #Desmos (@desmos.bsky.social), RGB felt straight-forward enough, but I didn't have a clear grasp on what each component of HSV did. Turns out that it's much easier to visualize in 3D. #🧮 #MathSky Graph: desmos.com/3d/180b54127d
A 3D visualization of the HSV color scale of a spherical point changing color as variables for hue, saturation, and value are adjusted. Points form a roughly cylindrical shape where the vertical distance changes the "value", the radius changes the "saturation", and the angle changes the "hue."

Playing around with the "impossible cube" in Desmos 3D. Graph: www.desmos.com/3d/52f2f13aaa
The "Impossible Cube", a two-dimensional figure that superficially resembles a perspective drawing of a three-dimensional cube, with its features drawn inconsistently from the way they would appear in an actual cube. (from Wikipedia)The "impossible cube" rotated slightly in 3D space, revealing a disconnect in the front edges of the cube, creating the illusion.

Seeing lots of Desmos 3D discussion around surfaces of revolution for Calculus. While parametrics are great for showing the act of rotation (see: desmos.com/3d/1a7f86ac77), I'm also loving this strategy, accessible to students who have seen equations of circles before: desmos.com/3d/0439a67934
Screenshot from Desmos 3D, showing a surface of revolution of the function f(x)=2-sin(x) using the expression y^2+z^2=f(x)^2
