Isaias will bring areas of heavy rainfall to the central U.S. Gulf coast and much of the Southeast Friday into the weekend. Flash and urban flooding, along with isolated river flooding, will be possible. Visit hurricanes.gov for more.
Weather Prediction Center map showing the greatest flash flood risk over the next five days from Tropical Storm Isaias. A Moderate Risk (at least 40%) is highlighted along portions of the northern Gulf Coast near Mobile, Alabama. A broader Slight Risk (at least 15%) extends across much of Mississippi, Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, parts of Tennessee and Georgia, and portions of the Carolinas. Surrounding areas from the Gulf Coast through the Southeast are under a Marginal Risk.

Isaias is expected to strengthen into a strong hurricane before approaching the northern Gulf Coast on Friday. There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge along portions of the northern Gulf coast, and a Storm Surge Watch has been issued.
National Hurricane Center forecast for Tropical Storm Isaias, issued Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Isaias is over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph. The forecast shows strengthening to a hurricane as the storm moves northeast across the Gulf, approaching the northern Gulf Coast near the Florida Panhandle Friday. The system is then forecast to move inland and weaken through the weekend. The cone shows the probable path of the storm’s center, not the storm’s size.Storm surge: Peak storm surge forecast for Tropical Storm Isaias along the northern Gulf Coast. The highest forecast surge is 5–7 feet above ground level from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, eastward to Indian Pass, Florida, including Mobile Bay. Forecast surge is 3–5 feet from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Ocean Springs and from Indian Pass to the Aucilla River, with generally lower levels farther west and along Florida’s Big Bend.
