The warning: the Tea Party took over its party in five years, never got its small government, and ended up with Trump. Movements open doors. They don't pick who walks through. Three tests ahead: November, El-Sayed vs. Rogers, and Mamdani's first year.

TG @tg80.bsky.social · 9h
Part 4: Can the revolt govern? In New York, Mamdani got a rent freeze and partial free child care. Free buses stalled in Albany. A pre-primary poll had El-Sayed trailing Republican Mike Rogers, while in Maine, progressive Troy Jackson leads Susan Collins. Winning isn't governing.

Part 3: How anger becomes power. Occupy Wall Street camped out. The Tea Party ran for office. Since 2017, the left has copied the second plan: Run for Something has elected 1,600-plus candidates, DSA tops 120,000 members, and Mamdani's volunteers knocked on 3.1 million doors.

Part 2: How 40 years broke the American promise. Top tax rate: 70% in 1981, 28% by 1989. Union membership: cut in half. First-time homebuyers: a record-low 21% of buyers in 2025. Those voters won't come back for a slicker ad. They'll come back for cheaper rent.

GOP messaging memo on data centers is VERY revealing: "Build the AI infrastructure America needs—but only when the companies...pay their own way, provide the power they consume, protect families from higher utility bills...safeguard local water & natural resources.” bluevirginia.us/2026/09/wedn...

"CONFIDENTIAL MEMORANDUMTo: GOP Candidates & PolicymakersFrom: Tony Fabrizio, Fabrizio LeeDate: September 14, 2026Re: Neutralizing Political Attacks on AI Data-Center Development Through Enforceable ConditionsThe problemUnqualified support for building more AI data centers is a losing position. Voters oppose additionalconstruction by 41 points—65% opposed to 24% in favor—and intensity runs the same way: 44% stronglyoppose, against 9% who strongly favor.[1] Opposition crosses every line. Republicans are net −4,independents −49, Democrats −73, generic-ballot undecideds −41, and 2024 Trump voters not currentlyvoting GOP −43.[2]That gives an opponent a factual foundation and the intensity to define the issue first. The dangerous attack isnot about artificial intelligence but about household cost: enormous power consumption, higher rates forfamilies and small businesses, a strained grid, scarce water, communities absorbing the costs—and largetechnology companies keeping the benefit. Innovation, investment, competitiveness, and jobs do not answerit, because none establishes who pays. The openingVoters are not against data centers in all circumstances. They are against data centers built on someone else’stab with no conditions. Asked to choose among unrestricted construction, construction with protections, andoutright prohibition, 61% choose conditions—against 28% who would ban them altogether and 7% whowould allow them wherever local officials approve.[3] The tested conditions require the company to meet itsown electricity needs, protect ratepayers from higher bills, and protect water and environmental resourcesnearby.Voter group Net support forbuild w/ noconditionsAllow with conditions ProhibitAll registered voters −41 61% 28%Republicans −4 66% 20%Independents −49 62% 27%Democrats −73 55% 37%Generic-ballot undecideds −41 52% 36%Persuadable independents −45 62% 27%2024 Trump …"attributable to their projects. If a data center creates the need for new power infrastructure, the developer, not existing customers, bears that cost.3. Ratepayer protection, guaranteed. Not a vague pledge to “support the grid.” No project approvedunless regulators can demonstrate that ordinary customers will not subsidize its electricity orinfrastructure costs—enforced through rate proceedings, special rate classes, development agreements, cost allocations, or bonds.4. Local water and environment protected. Disclosed water consumption, enforceable usage limits,developer-funded water infrastructure, recycling or alternative cooling where feasible, and independentassessment of effects on water, wastewater, noise, generator emissions, land use, and nearby homes.Never claim a project has no impact; claim impacts are measured in advance, mitigated, and paid for bythe developer.Stated this way, the position is offense rather than defense. It recasts the candidate as the one imposingdiscipline on the world’s wealthiest companies—and leaves the opponent to argue either that those companiesshould build without protections, or that projects should be blocked even when the protections are met.Why “enforceable” is the whole argumentConditions mean nothing if an opponent can call them voluntary industry promises. At a minimum:independent demand estimates before approval; public disclosure of projected infrastructure costs; bindingagreements assigning those costs to the developer; rate protections against cost-shifting; bonds or guaranteescovering promised improvements; continuing compliance reporting; meaningful penalties; authority tosuspend operation or expansion for material noncompliance; and local participation in negotiating protections. This converts the candidate from a defender of technology companies into the person imposing rules on them. The script Validate the concern. “People are right to be concerned about data centers raising utility bills, straining the electrica…
