The Rafter 4B Fire is at least 500 acres, southeast of Eldorado. The fire has produced its own thunderstorm with cloud-to-ground lightning! Fire growth may be erratic due to gusty winds from the nearby storm. Check Schleicher County Emergency Management and the fire department for more information.

September 24, 2026 TEXAS DROUGHT UPDATE Alright y'all, the new Drought Monitor just dropped and it's not great. 84% of Texas is now in drought. That's up from 81% last week, so we're going the wrong direction.

Some are hot, some are not. Summer weather isn’t giving up yet! Much of Texas will climb well into the 90s today, with Austin forecast to hit 100°F. Meanwhile, the Panhandle and far West Texas enjoy much cooler temperatures only in the 70s.
Texas forecast high temperatures for Thursday, September 24. Highs range from the mid-70s in the northwest Panhandle to the upper 90s across much of Central, North, South, and East Texas. Austin is forecast to reach 100°F, with Dallas and Bryan/College Station at 98°F, Houston at 96°F, and Amarillo at 77°F.

9/20 851PM: Scattered storms continue in the Hill Country and in northern D/FW. Most activity is slowly moving east/southeast, but not in any hurry. Heavy rain, dangerous lightning, and gusty winds remain possible. Localized street flooding will be possible. ~David
