AoD definitely had its moments, but it's by a wide margin the least of the 6 games Core made. I'm not sure more dev time would have saved it, but it's a fascinating window into the styles and expectations for early 2000s gaming.

The remastered version's modern controls option just don't convey how the game wants to be played as well. Even making it harder in places as the levels were designed around the slower and more methodical grid based layout.

The precision and reliability of them, in a game paced around what they can be made to do, with level design that treats traversal as a puzzle to solve with the tools to solve them being the controls.

It's been interesting playing through this first era of Tomb Raiders fresh, only really knowing them by reputation and what I've seen in retrospective videos. Some fascinating wonkiness, 90s cheese, and I Don't Care If You Think This Is Unfair Scrub game design, but I've grown to really enjoy them.

Having finished Control Resonant (v.good, would recommend) it's back to Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness. I've a great stinking cold and I'm a bit miserable right now. Not to be hyperbolic, but this may actually be what it's like in hell. But I've committed myself to finishing this tomb raider odyssey.

DS9, what a show, some of the best of Star Trek... Until you have to sit through the 400th Vic Fontaine song in his tacky Crooner factory. It's like the spirit of Seth MacFarlane somehow hijacked the DS9 writer's room to impose his dark will upon them, and us.

This evening's film was Argentinian horror, Terrified. Very spooky scary, a film for fans of doddering middle aged folk pottering around looking at paranormal stuff and looking pleased with the results of their investigations.

This evening's Horror Education was Return of the Living Dead. All I knew before was that it's something of a zombie horror-comedy cult favourite, and had a red haired punk lady who's somewhat iconic. It's subtle, but I think I now know why. It's cos she gets her boobs out.

Star Trek's Bajoran people are in such an odd place spiritually. Unlike most everyone else, they have real demonstrable proof that their gods are real, but those gods keep showing that they're also kinda unbothered dipshits. Must be a bit disappointing for the poor downtrodden Bajoran.
