Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 1hAppreciate it. In all honesty, the LLM writer was an afterthought. The first version of the game was just the scoring -- trying to get the highest box office. It was fun that way, but as soon as I started testing the fake movie descriptions I knew there was no going back. 010

Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 3hWell, this is awkward. Princess Bride is tagged as Fairy Tale/Swashbuckler/Rom-com. So, it should work for Mandy, looking into it.static.klipy.comKermit The Frog: 'Mistakes Were Made'Alt: Kermit The Frog: 'Mistakes Were Made' 000

Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 9hI know I mostly post bad and/or weird movies, but shoutout to the user who made the highest-grossing movie over the past few days. An original superhero premise that I'd 100% watch. 010

Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 13/10/2026Sometimes I scan the back end data to see which fake movie pages are getting traffic. This one is the leader over the past 24 hours and... deservedly so. 020
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 13/10/2026I was looking through data on the site and found the lowest critic of all time. It's really something. 010
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026OK, remember when I said that the it doesn't matter what movie you take the actor from? That's only for the scoring. In the descriptions, there are some... outputs... that happen if you take an actor from a specific role or put them in a specific genre. 140
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026There is no wrong way to play the game. You can try to get high scores or you can just make movies that sound fun (usually I start with the former then pivot to the latter after my reshoots run out). Hopefully this gives some insight into how it all works. Thanks for playing! 010
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026Also, it does not matter what film you choose the actor or director from ("Heat" Pacino scores the same as "Jack and Jill" Pacino), the only exception being Oscar noms and wins for specific roles. 110
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026Katherine Hepburn never worked with PTA. So if you put them in a movie together, the synopsis could sound great (and it would be), but it might not be the best way to maximize the box office and critic scores. 110
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026The scoring is deterministic, meaning it's not AI and the same inputs will always give the same outputs. "Winning" that element of the game has to do with matching directors/actors with the right genres and previous collaborators. 120
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026The scoring and descriptions are done completely independent of each other. Also, the movies are written to be the best version of whatever ingredients go into it (even when they are bad). This is why you can get a movie that sounds awesome but scores poorly. 110
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026One thing I've seen often is, "This movie sounds awesome, why is it's score so low?" You aren't wrong. Small thread on how the game engine works: 130
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026First of all, thank you Bluesky for playing and sharing your Tentpole movies. I've had a blast reading them. We already know Bluesky is the official app of sports, I'm ready to declare that it's the official app of Tentpole. 120
Tentpole @tentpolegame.com · 12/10/2026Each actor has a base score that gets adjusted up or down based on a number of factors. In your movie, the top comment refers to a bonus for Leo having history in those genres. The bottom refers to a negative ding because the director and castmates aren't scoring well. I can see how it's confusing! 000
