The chevron quilt top is done! Borders are on! This was my friend's vision when he saw the fabric and the pattern for this. It's my first time following a pattern and I really enjoyed it but it was a learning curve.

Working on this #quilt top. It... Is far from perfect. I had to square up the edge on one side which meant cutting off a couple #points and I'm #HEARTBROKEN 💔... 😭 But otherwise it's turning out #pretty. #alttextavailable for low vision users.

Here is a quilt top spread across a wooden floor. It is made up of red and cream chevrons alternating with a floral hexagon patterned fabric. The chevrons form a secondary pattern if you squint to find it - it's like echoes of the center diamond going out diagonally - but the pattern is called "walk about". Also in this image are pieces of furniture around the edges of the image. There's the edge of a grey-blue rug at the bottom left corner of the image, a tan futon in the upper left, and map chairs with wooden legs at the top left corner. I hope these alt text descriptions help. 💕

This is a super #girly #flimsy ( #quilt #top ) for my friend's #daughter. These #unicorns with #rainbows and #pinksparkle squares are accented by half size #pink #tonal #flower rectangles. I love the #rainbow style sashing. Laid out on a #kingsize #bed

Rainbows and unicorns on blue, deeper pink with swirls and sparkle, tone on tone pink flowers between them. The pattern alternates with the tonal flowers in between each larger square. The rainbow stripe sashing goes horizontally between the rows or patterned squares and rectangles. This is laid out on a king size bed.

MY #FIRST #CHEVRON TURNED OUT WELL! 🎉 I'm so nervous about doing these for this #quilt. I have a bazillion more to go... But this gave me a little needed #confidence and a #boost in the #rightdirection! ❤️ 🤩 🪡 🧵

This is a chevron made up of a cream on white design fabric and red grunge patterned fabric. They're 4 half square triangles sewn together ALMOST perfectly. Under them you can see the next sets ready to go, my green cutting mat, a bit of acrylic ruler with teal markings, and to the side, a little of my rotary cutter which is gray and orange. I'm super pleased with how this one turned out for the quilt I'm working on! Hopefully the others all look similar!

Here's a lotus designed reddish brown yixing clay teapot. The website had this to say about the teapot:
The clay of this teapot is a Qing Shui Ni clay, which is a common clay in Yixing. Qing Shui Ni could be literally translated as "Clear Water Mud" in English. It basically stands for those ore that is not "specially selected or blended," so the color and feeling of this clay is more primitive as well, which represents the classical character of Yixing clay. "Qing Shui Ni" (清水泥). It is a very common material for Yixing teapots, making it a foundational ore, which supports the economy of Yixing production even today.

This is an "Easy Gaiwan" for making tea. It's clay, speckled two shades of brown. The website says this about it:
Duan Ni Clay "Easy Gaiwan" fired using the high temp Dragon Kiln. This can be dedicated for a certain type of tea. Would be best suited to Raw Pu-erh, Oolongs or Black tea, but could be used for any type of tea.

My #frenchbulldog, Brulee, caught "winking" at me. Lol I'd just said something to her and she "winked," in response, as I took the picture - which I felt was #HILARIOUS. Enjoy the #sillypuppy.

Here is a white French bulldog with one eye closed. She's sitting on a round, taupe stair carpet, on the landing as the stairs turn. You can see wood stairs with more of the taupe runner carpets on them. The walls are wood paneled. The French bulldog has a darker gray touch to her smushed snout by her mouth.

I'm in the middle of trimming 132 red and cream half square triangles #hst for an upcoming #quilt I have #inprogress... There are slivers I'm taking off and I'm glad I followed my gut by cutting the original blocks a hair larger since my 1/4" seam is #NOTperfect. See alt text for low vision desc.

Here you see cream on cream design and red grunge half square triangles. There is a stack of these 5x5 inch half square triangles and I am holding one up. Behind them, you can see my dark green rotating cutting mat, my clear and turquoise 6.5 inch square ruler, my rotary cutter with an orange and gray grip, and the hint of my orange charging cable for my phone. These blocks are for an upcoming quilt I have in progress but I have over 100 more to trim shavings off of!

July 4th, I went to a tea social. The tea host shared her tea with us. A shou pu-erh, a milk oolong, a silver needles white tea, and a lotus petal and jasmine mix tea. Shou (ripe) pu-erh is my favorite daily drinker tea, but the lotus jasmine tea? Phenomenal. Must find. #tea #teaceremony #wow

This is a tea ceremony set up between two round tables. There are two tea boards. One has two tea pet cats and 4 cups. The other board has a fairness cup, teapot, tea dish, tea cup, tea, etc. There is also a tiny bamboo plant to the side of the boards. To the opposite side of the boards is a dish for dumping tea leaves and it has a very fat tea pet cat.

Welp. So much for the crisp corners on that practice quilt. I effed it up royally when putting the rows together. It's... Um... Sitting as a constructed flimsy but I am not doing anything with it right now. I'm moving on because I'm mad. 😅

I practiced half square triangles yesterday with a pro friend of mine... So that I could practice accuracy with both cutting / trimming and my quarter inch seam. I'm not new but I still consider myself a novice.

In this image are layer cakes (10x10 inch squares) both in white and citrus patterns but you can only see the pineapple ones here. There is a faint pencil line drawn corner to corner on the white squares. My singer sewing machine is visible to the left. A pencil, lint roller, cutting mat, Quilter's ruler, and her extra leaf for the Quilter's table are all visible in this image. In the top left corner is also a quilt top, kind of bunched up, and you are unable to make out it's pattern.

Seeing as I had to collaborate with another person who changed design elements and fabric choices several times, it took several months. The binding process only took 2 days... I did have it longarmed by a friend of mine, though, so that trimmed time off as well. It needed the fancy FMQ.

Here you see the free motion quilting in flower designs on stems with leaves against the blue and black galaxy fabric. It is bordered by blue on the left and green leaf batik on the right.

Here is an image of Frida Kahlo from the center of the quilt with free motion quilting around her and each of the designs around her. Below her are flowers in multiple colors. To her right there is a heart, arrows, and bright birds, to her left there is a statue, leaves and flowers, and butterflies. Here is the #Frida #quilt. I have fully described it in alt text for low vision users. The binding is now #finished!

Here is the finished Frida Kahlo quilt. Frida is shown in the center, surrounded by various objects like butterflies, birds, a heart, a statue, arrows, and flowers. Her initial borders are yellow, red, and teal with moth cornerstones. Following that there's a green leaf batik running nearly the length vertically of the quilt... there is a parrot block on left center bottom and right center top sides with a burnt orange block top center left, bottom center right. Above and below the parrots and burnt orange blocks (as well as the panel with its original borders and cornerstones) runs an orange daisy batik. It runs nearly the width of the quilt horizontally. Above and below the aforementioned blocks, patterns, and central bordered panel, there is a diamond Frida and Mexico inspired patterned block, bordered by black and blue galaxy cornerstones. Bordering the entirety of the quilt is a royal blue border - lighter than the galaxy blue. The quilt is quilted with a custom free motion floral pattern in gold which is not visible here but is worth noting. Thank you for checking out alt text.

Hit the other side of a #36hour #migraine.... Just had a twinge of pain and I'm scared of it coming back. I had to go for #medical help yesterday because my meds weren't cutting it. I didn't have visual distortion, just the pain and auditory sensitivity... 😭 Twas awful.

This is the binding color choice with fabric remnants.

Here you see teal-y turqoise-y colored binding packages against fabric remnants from having made the quilt. The fabric remnants are red, yellow, teal, dark blue and black galaxy with gold flecks, and a burnt orange. They rest on my ironing board which has a leaf pattern on it.

Well, the quilt came back from the longarmer and it's beautifully stitched. I can't wait to put the binding on it and show it off to you all. My friend chose a teal-y turqoise-y binding color for the quilt. The quilt has all the colors in it. It's lovely. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
