you will encounter more opportunities in life to change the batteries on a smoke alarm than you will to run into a burning building and no one gives a shit you changed those batteries but it is still very important and why are you waiting on a burning building, know what i’m saying, it’s a metaphor

I made a paper doll Big Walker! I'd forgotten how great it feels to make someone small and silly just for fun!

A paper doll version of the walker character from House House's Big Walk video game. The head is a red circle, the chest is a yellow circle with yellow arms ending in circle hands, and the trunk is an orange circle with long orange legs ending in oval feet. It's held together with colored brads so the arms and legs can move.

I'm too much a jenn-of-many-trades and too old to be an apprentice, but I do think a lot about the way we hand skills down to the next generation (or don't, as it were)

Hey that's me! These were really fun to write- the game is cool as hell! Also you are legally required to tell me about it if you run into Red Rook on your playthrough (it's in the fine print, really, really small, I swear!)

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series

You can’t without supporting Rowling’s transphobic bigotry.

I do think I Was a Teenage Exocolonist is a very good game! Also while playing it I had a very painful emotional flashback & dissociated super hard for days after. I'm very aware it's meant to be played multiple times & playing again might improve my feelings around it but I simply will not.

Working on my relationship with my mom has meant digging up and wading through what feels like an ocean of loneliness I experienced as a kid. I find myself stuck in flashbacks of it almost every day. It sucks! I compartmentalized that shit for a reason!

I have backed a lot of crowdfund campaigns and I know that shipping is expensive, but being asked to pay USD$70 to ship a game book, map & stickers (about USD$100) feels like a joke? I would pay USD$35 without grumbling! I don't understand why it's more than the base game cost!

Changing my personal definition of useful from 'useful to the institution of capitalism' to instead mean 'useful to the fabric of society (myself & other humans and my connections to them)' has been pretty great! I highly recommend considering who you are afraid of not being valuable to.

I think this is box #6 so far this year and my first with a drawer. I love the colors (the gold cook cloth came with the kit and I had the purple paper and silver book cloth in my stash)! This was a class from Herringbone Bindery called Fancy Clamshell.

A collage of three images of a clamshell box made by Jenn. The box is covered in marbled paper in purple, silver and gold, with silver book cloth on the spine and gold book cloth on the fore edges. The top image takes up the full width, and shows the box open from the top. The tray on the right is divided and there's a drawer opened part way underneath it. The bottom left image shows the box closed and the bottom right image shows the spine and cover standing up.

Artemis 3 having zero women crew feels deeply reflective of the current political moment in the US and I hate it. Yes, there are still women on the ground team, but relying on women while keeping them behind the scenes so men can have all the fame and glory is still misogyny.
