All ranktheslate.nyc candidates (plus Stringer) support a rent-freeze. Who doesn't support a rent-freeze? Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo is landlords' favorite candidate because he wants to raise your rent. PS – kudos to @tenantbloc.bsky.social for making rent-freeze a central position of the mayor's race.

In NY, homeowners are 2x as likely to vote as tenants. Unless there are pro-tenant policies on the ballot, that is, like a rent freeze. It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Zellnor Myrie's platform offers nothing for tenants struggling to stay in their homes right now. Even worse, it undermines rent stabilization, giving landlords more ways to raise rents and push families out. 70% of New Yorkers rent — if you want our votes, freeze the rent.
