Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 28/04/2026Sign I saw at the Lech waterfall close to Füssen (and Austria, and Neuschwanstein Castle) in the very South of Germany: 🤩 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 25/04/2026Just checked&was delighted to find that the place I rent DVDs from has it. (Also nice to see you post about something you thoroughly enjoy after so many depressed posts I am at a loss about how to reply to - hang in there - this world (and us) are a mess but we're only here for a short time anyway) 110
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 20/04/2026While the May of Things is a great month, this is the one I meant to post instead of it twice: 020
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 20/04/2026If you pronounce my name the Spanish way instead of the English one (like Beatriz), you will be much closer to the way it's pronounced in German. BTW - do you have a drum you can also sit on, or a stool you can also drum on ? (Obviously much easier on the road than complete drums) 120
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 20/04/2026Loved your Saturday concert - too bad it will only be up on YT for 72 hours. Where again did you play ? If you want to have fun, watch with automated captions on. 110
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 27/03/2026They fixed it (our weather is not totally crazy......yet) 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 27/03/2026It's the system..... (so: no weather forecast for today) 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 27/03/2026This is the strangest weather forecast I've ever seen. Curious to see if temperatures really will drop 15°C between 10 and 12 am without even a thundestorm - whethter the bug is in the weather or the forecasting system...... 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 23/02/2026I'll try Amazon - I know we hate it all for good reasons, but I am old enough to remember how difficult it was to order anything not published in Germany before Amazon..... Thanks for the reply & best of luck for your book. Found your page-seems it's not there yet but others are available. 110
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 21/02/2026Read up on William and Martha Dodd and their time in Berlin in the 1930s when Dodd was US ambassador there - fascinating read. Keep learning more about history. (Also on Rudolf Diels, Ernst Hanfstängel, 'Boris Vinogradov' and 'Jeffersonianism', as Dodd considered himself Jeffersonian) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 14/01/2026I was very impressed by that one in Arlanda airport when I visited Stockholm in 2024. 120
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 21/12/2025Plus a dawn pic and a deer statue (place was named after it) in the dawn 001
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 21/12/2025Also found that the places East of where I live (Stuttgart area), with more Catholic traditions, tend to have giant churches in tiny places 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 21/12/2025A town hall in a German village having turned itself into an advent calendar. 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 19/12/2025Found a place nearby, and easy to reach by public transport, which makes me feel like being at the top of the world and at the edge of infinity 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 13/12/2025(Not my fav pic - but it's easy to find many others, and he loves to give interviews and to explain Vecna) 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 15/09/2025Walk across & along the Neckar river near Stuttgart, Germany the winter before last: 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 11/08/2025Not really a portal into another world - but it sure does look like one: 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 03/08/2025Just looked up Kotzebue on Google maps - seems so weird to me it's in Alaska because he was a German writer - but, as I have just learned, also a diplomat in Russia. As with everything/-one I feel I should know more about, I will read up on him on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_... 100
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 19/07/2025Bukele has suggested that solution quite some time ago - and though it is just a lesser evil, it's the only one I could think of that might work. (Not that he is not evil at all, but he has brains, and expresses himself in complete well-written sentences) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 13/07/2025Not quite the same - but early mornings can be beautiful around here (where I am stuck, for better or for worse), too: Good Morning 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 11/07/2025Clouds piling up dramatically (and yet I was surprised when it suddenly started to rain) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Stuttgart has so many beautiful old houses from around 1900 (which, I have just learned, was one of Germany's best times). Wouldn't that one make a great fantasy movie setting ? 020
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Not the greatest of views, nor the most inviting of benches - but a blessing after an early morning walk on a day on which it is too hot for almost anything at 7 am already: 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Last 4 books I have read/am reading. All wonderful. 15 out of 10. 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 29/06/2025From the news site I have to go through when I open my German mail account: (it's not a very good site, but mostly accurate, just often mostly trivia - good to see they do report on what ICE is doing and the protest against it) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 08/06/2025Have you watched HIDALGO ? Sure, quite a stretch from real history - but so beautiful. 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 03/06/2025Learned today that there is a plant/spice called `torch ginger`. Will probably never taste it - but look at it: so interesting and beautiful ! www.tasteatlas.com/kecombrang 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 28/05/2025Found him ! (In case you or anybody who reads this should be interested) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 23/05/2025I'm landlocked here, but last year around this time I visited Stockholm (the Swedish one) which has hundreds of ferries and channels and felt similar - loved it. (Just very hot, as the sun was stinging down much more vertical that far north). 110
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 20/05/2025Also, it's easily reached by tram (and morning sun is always magic) 000
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 20/05/2025Meanwhile I am trying to make the best of my peaceful but somewhat boring home area - have discovered a new favourite bench (for the view up, not the one down): 110
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 16/05/2025Adding a lovely pic of a Swedish boyband and their manager over LA around 2016 (one of their former members was my last Munich concert. It was wonderful, but my health problem caught up with me). 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 18/04/2025When wars became 'great'. I hope and pray they won't again. 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 14/04/2025Could be around here (Stuttgart, S-Germany area) - only that spring is somewhat more advanced here. Nothing spectacular, but really nice parks, and we have a public transport ticket for all over Germany for around 50 EUR a month. As long as I have internet, too, for looking farther... From February: 010
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 08/04/2025I love Scotland, but I never found the appropriate footwear. I am mainly stuck where I was born, though, the greater Stuttgart area in the South of Germany. But with the appropriate mindset, beauty can be found anywhere, and I often even succeed in finding spots I never have been before. 120
Beate @temporaryhermit.bsky.social · 30/03/2025Just found Lost Heaven. Apparently, it's in Shanghai and both expired and coming soon. 010
