this honestly never occurred to me before but now it makes complete sense that there would have been a substantial number of fans who were pissed when Tim Drake came about because they thought they had been voting to put a stake in the concept of Robin, forever.

I realize it’s not the most important factor here but now my big question is where the rest of all the money went because that was not $150 million.

well, that was quite charming! when did Dreamworks get the juice? Dreamworks really didn’t used to have the juice, but this definitely had some juice.

It all began with the forging of the Great Dew. Code Red was given to the Elves, wisest and fairest of all beings. Voltage to the Dwarf Lords, great miners and craftsmen. And Goji Citrus Strawberry was gifted to the race of Men. But they were all of them deceived. For another flavor was made.

finally put this one to bed this morning after setting it aside for a couple weeks - quick read. enjoyed this more than the first two. the series is improving for me as it goes, but I’ve heard the last couple are divisive. oh well, we’ll get there soon enough. still cannot stand Will Stanton, mind.

in which we finish up this fraught two-parter, which stumbles in the second half by bolting the Dark Phoenix into Days of Future Past without a lot of room for any of it to breathe. oh well, at least we’re almost done with Phoenix What Ifs … right? Right? Bueller?
Review excerpt - Chris Claremont's name is gone from the credit's box - if the first chapter carried the unmistakable whiff of venting on the part of the axed X-writer, the second chapter seems to be spinning its wheels in the mode of a standard mutant-themed alternate universe. It points to a tension at the heart of What If? as a concept, still visible in the modern franchise: conflict between the series' core premise - mapping out the consequences of changes to specific turning points in established continuity - and the desire to go wide. This leads to wildly different alternate universes without necessarily showing every step of how the new world was created out of repercussions from the initial change. If that sounds overly fastidious, well, that is the premise of the series, in Roy we trust. What If … (Vol 2) #33, cover by Rodney Ramos and Jimmy Palmiotti.

while recording I tripped over the tongue-in-cheek phrase “in Roy we Trust” a couple times - it’s a bit of a stealth tongue twister, true, but damned if the universe doesn’t rebel against the concept even in jest.

Album #3 didn’t sound like it was recorded in a gas station bathroom and it came stacked with solid tunes. but people had moved on from that moment. the masses weren’t in the mood to forgive a prickly sophomore slump because the music industry was dying. but we remember, yes. this is a baller LP.
