What does it take to get 4-ish flats under IRC? I'm troubled at the inaccessibility of townhomes because of stairs.

Umbrella keeps your pants drier. But damnit if umbrellas don't hog a lot of sidewalk.

I "enjoyed" the few months where people accused human authors of being AI and now I will enjoy this next few months where people accuse AI of being authors.

Depending on how we're defining "congested" I think I could get on board with this.

I will do some googling about this. Thank you.

Unless you're suggesting doing this for regular taxis, I don't see why this should apply to Waymos.

Can you link me to this data? I love a good demonstration of cars' geometry problems.

I am for buses and I am for fixing these problems. Banning Waymos might help buses move more smoothly and fix the problems you are talking about. That is not the only option for fixing those things, and comes with the downside of keeping more-dangerous humans driving.
110
teepegg @teepegg.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
The problems described above are annoyances but Waymos are about 85% safer in terms of injuries. So you are saying that you prioritize the avoidance of irritations over the prevention of injuries to human beings.

teepegg @teepegg.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
These are all technical problems that can be solved without banning Waymo. Even the deadheading; that is a technical problem that dispatched taxis already try to minimize but seem to be better at.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Madrid is infamous for high rents and has an apartment vacancy rate somewhere between 0.5% and 3%. I also don't think it's a coincidence that a country which makes it hard to build new homes has very few construction workers.

I know it's orthogonal to your point but I have to ask: What are the analogous safety concerns in accounting?

Sentimentally, I agree with you. This guy, however, applied for a job as a public face of a sports team. Probably should have deleted those tweets before sending in his resume.

My pet hypothesis is that this partly to blame on wealthy metros not allowing enough housing. We saw in 2025 that the lowest rents fall the most in response to new housing supply, and so housing scarcity pushes low-wage workers out first. Then you get a shortage of low-wage workers!

You should get a little better grip from lower pressure, that's been my experience.

teepegg @teepegg.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
That being said, don't put so much weight up front that steering gets sluggish at low speed.
110
teepegg @teepegg.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Distribute some weight onto the front fork; with too much weight on the back wheel and not enough up front steering can get squirrelly. Also, if you are inflating your tires to the max pressure, try lower pressures. It'll get you a smoother ride and so better control that way.

Would you like a little off-road riding advice? I have some based on bike packing and riding a cargo bike similar to yours.

I am a big proponent of tap fees to solve this problem. It means the utility bears the initial costs of upgrades if there is not an existing reserve of prior fees. This book which I have only read a little of is tap fee skeptical and might have ideas: search.worldcat.org/title/806017...

What would this do that regular tap fees can't (I'm thinking specifically about water and sewer). Private electric utilities charge service connection fees that presumably accomplish the same goal.

This is a really good point! And California has that someone else already in the public community college system. Transferring students to the UC system get some preferential treatment, too.
