I’ve never once been afraid of or harmed or felt threatened by a trans person (or any other LGBTQIA+ person for that matter). I have however been intimidated, belittled by, afraid of, and assaulted by white men. That’s right, men, plural. Women’s rights are not threatened by LGBTQIA+ people.

See my alt text descriptions… I’m so very sorry it has come to this. I will never forget and will speak openly and freely about the threat this President and his enablers and sycophants pose to our nation.

I have so many thoughts and emotions about what’s going on. I feel ill with the news I’m seeing about probationary employees being fired en mass across NOAA today. I’d certainly share how shortsighted I believe this all is. I don’t see a method to this other than madness. These firings are deliberately designed to elicit fear. The Trump administration is literally a terrorist organization bent on destroying the U.S. Government from within. Plain and simple and in the bright light of day. Apparently, that’s what the people who voted for him expected from the President. Or, is it?

It’s a devastating day for science, it’s a sad day for STEM, it’s an awful day for capable young adults who have worked hard to get to where they are today and may be burdened by student (and other) debt for years to come. This is not how early career scientists are treated by anyone thinking themselves a “leader”. I’m disgusted and dismayed.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.
