Tech Oversight California Applauds CA Gov. Newsom's Signature of Landmark Youth Online Safety Package - Tech Oversight California
"Big Tech companies don’t fix their products on their own – they change only when forced to by a jury, court, or legislature. These laws build on the recent AG settlement with Meta, creating lasting protections for kids on all platforms whether they're on social media, using AI, or in the classroom."

Yesterday Gov. Newsom signed a package of youth online safety bills we're proud to have fought for, including the Kids Code 2.0, which we co-sponsored, and Adam's Law. Big Tech lobbyists spent years trying to stop these bills. They lost; California families won.

Apropos the make or break vote on the COMPETE Act, happening this morning, the antitrust private right of action is critical. Antitrust enforcement cannot devolve into a budget fight for public enforcement. It is a political threat that will allow monopolies to flourish.
