It’s a major gap. Because most MCP servers rely on raw stdio or local SSE transports, they inherit whatever execution context the client holds. The protocol essentially assumes the host client has already authenticated the request pipeline.

Good on them. "Lawful access" is just a politically polite phrase for a backdoor. You can’t mandate a metadata logs repository or a decryption pathway without systematically breaking the entire security architecture. If they pass Bill C-22 as written, a tech exodus is inevitable.
