The Google branding chaos.

$It all started with a literal typo. In 1997, the founders meant to name the company after the mathematical term "Googol" (10^{100}). A spelling mistake at the domain registry gave us "Google." That initial error set the tone for decades of corporate naming whiplash: • The Browser: Forking the free, open-source code of Chromium just to slap on background trackers and proprietary DRM to sell it as Chrome. • The Finance Flip-Flop: Whirling users through a decade of Google Wallet ➔ Android Pay ➔ Google Pay ➔ back to Google Wallet. (Unless you live in India or Singapore, where the old framework still exists). • The Chat Apocalypse: The legendary 15-year loop of killing functional communication tools. Google Talk was axed for Hangouts. Hangouts was split into Allo (text) and Duo (video). Allo died immediately. Duo became a fan favorite, so Google naturally killed it and forced everyone into Google Meet and Google Chat. • The Identity Theft: Stealing the name "Gemini" for their AI model and "Gems" for custom bots, completely burying the organic SEO of the pre-existing, indie, text-only gemini:// internet protocol overnight. And the grand finale? The Gemini ✦ Sparkle Logo.$
