What I'm Watching: #TheOgresBride I'm totally late, but I watched the first 6 episodes, and I'm invested! It reminds me of My Happy Marriage and Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits, which I really enjoyed #anime #amwatching

The promotional art for the Japanese anime The Ogre's Bride. Picture description: a young woman with long brown hair and brown eyes, dressed in a red, orange and yellow kimono stands in the foreground while a young man, with blacl hair and red eyes, dressed in a black and grey kimono, stands in the background. Both are surrounded by red and orange maple leaves on a clear, cloudless day.

New: Macklemore will donate entire $1M of his earnings from Ed Sheeran's tour to six orgs helping Palestinians — and invites Robert Kraft to match him. Says he wants to center Palestinians being killed + journalists & aid workers who keep going. "Their risk is of a far different order than mine."

With everything that has happened over the last 48 hours, I want to bring the conversation back to where it belongs: to the Palestinian people who are still being killed, still living under military occupation, and still fighting for their freedom.
I will be donating the entire $1 million of my net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organizations working directly to support the Palestinian people. And I invite Robert Kraft to match my donation. Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland. I want to center the parents carrying their children into hospitals without the basic resources to treat them, and the physicians, paramedics, journalists and aid workers who keep going back in. I want to center the organizers and activists who have paid real costs for standing with Palestine. Their risk is of a far different order than mine.
Just yesterday, 15 year old Muhammad al Zinati was killed in an Israeli strike while rushing to help aid worker Sherif Lubbad, who had already been injured. He was a child. Both were murdered. Both should be alive. And the ones still under the rubble, whose names exist only in the memories of people who may not have survived to speak them. Writing a check is one of the least costly forms of solidarity available to me. I am doing it because I can, and because these organizations are doing the work while much of the world debates it.
But aid alone cannot address the conditions that make it necessary. This is a manmade injustice, and I believe it requires immediate political change. Palestinians have lived for decades without basic rights and should not have to wait another day to be free. That is where my focus will remain. I will …

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 17: What type of book would your MC(s) write? I think Lina would write a book of poetry. Aaron may compile all of his marine conservation research into a kid-friendly non-fiction book.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 8: would/does your MC like school? Favorite subject(s)? Lina liked school well enough. Her favorite subjects were art and computer lab, so it made sense that she went into graphic design. She wasn't sporty, but was asked to try out for swim team repeatedly.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 7: Something in your WIP that surprised you Though I'm writing a story abt a mermaid, I underestimated how much I'd need to know about boats. Aaron and his marine conservation team use a vessel to track a group of dolphins, as well as the locals on their fishing boats 😅

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 6: Do you know what your next WIP will be? I have a few at varying stages of devlopemtn rn. The one I work on most frequently is a contemporary, kdrama-esque romance with a black female lead. I'm loving it so far 😁 #writingcommunity #bvm

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 4: Free Friday - do you collect anything? Do earrings count? When I go on a trip, people who know me go on a trip, or there's a gift-giving holiday, the item I get most often is a pair of earrings. I don;t even know how many pairs I have 😅I should count them one day...

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 3: Education in WIP Aaron and Lina have both been to college, though their K-12 education was very different from each other. Lina went to school on the island and as one of like 20-ish kids, all of varying ages, she was doing work at and above grade level.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 2: How do you choose your next read? I have a few people in my life that have a pretty good gauge on books they've read that they think I'll like. When I find an author I enjoy, I tend to read as much of their work as possible before my brain finds another fixation.

I cannot overstate how much I hate when people are dicks about babies crying in public (especially airplanes). Do you think the parent is having a good time right now?? Do you think they are not aware of the situation??? Are you going to negotiate with a literal infant????
