Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 08/10/2026There are so many small but important one-maintainer projects where this would probably make a bigger difference than everyone pointing at the usual big ones here. 000
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Nice. Interesting app. I just cannot get over the fact that we are paying 100 bucks a year (plus a percentage) and still need 3rd party software to make a shitty service usable. 000
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I didn't think it was possible to have worse tooling and processes than those for releasing to the Apple App Store. Now I'm trying their notarization service for the first time. Current status: In Progress......................................................................... I stand corrected. 010
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 06/10/2026It's complicated and very non-binary. In theory ❤️ but what some implementation make out of it 😢 In combination with a password manager a little closer to the yay. But for most cases they need another fallback. 000
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I’m still trying to remember a single instance where an acquisition turned out to be great for the customers. Can you think of any? 200

Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 29/09/2026It was already hard to convince business people that good code matters. It is sad to see engineers fall victim to the same illusion that it does not. If you treat code as a blackbox: Who will take responsibility for it? 121
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I just upgraded from macOS 15 to macOS 27. I am very glad I skipped macOS 26 and migration was pretty smooth (so far - knock on wood). I am still not a fan of the visual changes - but still better than macOS 26. Let's celebrate the small wins. 120
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Yay, another “hot takes” post about AI that ages like milk. Some of those points are so bad that they outweigh the few where he’s actually right. Someone should collect these posts and read them out loud in 5y. 000
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Indeed, AI work is a bit like herding baby animals. A very different job description from deep-focus engineering sessions. 030
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I just found typesafe.ai I still do not have enough details to decide what to think of it. But the classifier interface feels so much more suited to a lot of tasks that people somehow stuff into the LLM pipeline. It feels a lot more like classic machine learning. 001

Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I you want o have a quick laugh: I just shot myself in the foot because Apple insists that CFBundleVersion cannot be reset for a given bundle. Now I have to add 30000000000000000 to the bundle version for this project - forever. I'll add this to my list of Apple frustrations. 000

Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 05/09/2026The way I read it: Unless every domains I own is a Google Workspace, sending via "Send As" will no longer be possible either. So only @gmail and @yourworkspace will continue to work. Which to me is still a deal breaker. 020

Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Same here. Gmail was my email hub for many years. Time to take my data elsewhere 🙃 and move on. So far I wasn't happy with the alternatives. But I guess they will have to do. A shame that self-hosting has become such a non-option. 100
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 04/09/2026Many people have DeGoogle'ed their lives already. For me, migrating away from Gmail has always been the hardest thing. But it seems I am on the clock now. support.google.com/mail/answer/... No longer supporting aliases for sending is a deal breaker. 122

Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Nix is a hate-love relationship for me. Amazing and frustrating at the same time. It makes you question a lot of the status quo. But one thing it is for sure: It's really hard to go back to "the old ways" after being infected with the ideas. 010
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Indeed. Different ball game. But still reminded me of the project. Yes, the board is very close to the micro:bit. Compiling it to the actual byte code of the machine in-place really is next level. I am wondering how much memory is needed for that. 100
Torsten Curdt @tcurdt.bsky.social · 18/08/2026That reminds me of a former customer. calliope.cc I created a custom machine code set and wrote an emulator that runs it on the microcontroller.
