It looks like the soviets were partying on Mir.

I was an Air Force mechanic for a few years then an Air Force space operator. I saw both flight decks and satellite consoles with built in ash trays though their use had stopped long before my time.

Well, to be fair, every room was a smoking room back then 😂 💨

I find more new (or new to me) music on Facebook reels than I’m comfortable admitting. Like The Velvateers.

Whoever designed this failed to account for the fact that guys WILL compete to see who can stand the furthest away.

I’d never done a full album listen of any STP. It did not disappoint.

I also thought the other thing 😂 But I checked the replies first.

That’s wild. AT&T just gives it to you, if that’s an option.

I’ve tried a few times over the years to do quick errands with just my Apple Watch and it rarely works out. Now, when I forget my phone, or lose my phone, that’s when the watch shines 😊

I just got an early birthday gift from @medus4.com of a Purple Pillow seat cushion. Just 10 minutes in and my butt is so much happier. ❤️

If you're playing with local inference on a Strix Halo box with Fedora as your OS and models managed by systemd, I vibed together a thing to make management a little easier. gitlab.com/SuperTeece/l...

I’ll be playing a bit starting now. On Steam, username SuperTeece

I have it running on a Strix Halo Fedora 44 box. So far so good but I have tried a chaotic explody event yet so I don’t know how well the GPU holds up yet.

Does your house have phone jacks? If so you can run a PBX in house and call room to room.

Heyo @scalzi.com! Is there official or unofficial artwork that gives visual references for the various species in the Old Man’s War universe that you can point to as how they appear in your imagination?

I like United’s app the best (iOS). I love how it puts a countdown to boarding in the magic island or whatever it’s called.

The picture changes drastically when traveling alone. First class flight== $865 First class train== $596 to $1357 depending on room size.

But it’s fair to say my situation is more resource hungry than what’s maybe average. Idk.

TC 🅅 @tc.superteece.com · 25/08/2026

Sleeping arrangements for 8 is the only way to comfortably fit 7 though. Yes, we’re a mini Brady Bunch. The coach tix are $130/ea, but it’s a chair for ~23hrs. Yeah there’s more walking around space and the dining car and whatnot, but folks are going to want to sleep a few hours on that long haul.

TC 🅅 @tc.superteece.com · 25/08/2026

I was thinking a family trip by train would be fun and figured we’d spend a little more than airfare BUT that would be part of the trip’s whole experience. This is a lot though. If any needs me I’ll be in Tennessee buying lotto tickets.

010

TC 🅅 @tc.superteece.com · 25/08/2026

This isn’t apples to apples since the train is first class and the flight is coach, but it really is still the comparison given that one way on the train is ~23hrs

“Why don’t Americans travel by train more?” To get a round trip AL <-> NYC full family:

True, although STUs were used over autovon in the same manner that STEs are used today. “We need to go secure, I will initiate…” Clanky, but they work. In my era we also had ISTs and VoIP nets that were full time cleared up to a designated level. Way more convenient.

Went to HAMfest today and scored this really cool dial pad. It took a little reverse image searching but I’ve figured out that it came from an early 80s secure phone system used by USG/DoD/NSA etc. $3 a piece I kinda wish we’d bought the whole Box. Now to decide what to do with it.
