I had a blast at ABGT700! Cant wait for the next milestone
A large outdoor concert stage at dusk with a crowd of people. The stage is lit up with red and orange lights and there is smoke billowing from the stage. The sky is dark with clouds and there are mountains in the distance. The text "THE GORGE" is displayed on the stage.A crowd of people standing in front of a lit stage under a cloudy sky. The stage has a sign that reads "THE GORGE" and is lit with blue and purple lights. There are tents and other structures in the background. The scene conveys a sense of excitement and anticipation.A tree stands in front of a sunset over rolling hills. There are two metal towers with speakers on them in the foreground. There is a structure with a roof in the distance. The sky is cloudy with streaks of orange and pink.A dirt area with trees and grass overlooks the Columbia river gorge. A white tent and a wooden structure are in the distance. The sky is clear with a few clouds.

Oh, @kagi.com
A screenshot of kagi in a mobile browser with the question “how many ps are in google?” with a “Quick Answer” response (note Kagi only provides AI responses when you add a question mark to the query) saying:
There is one letter “p” in the word “Google.”

Post a pic you took, no context, to bring some zen to the feed.
A large steel bridge spans across a body of water under a blue sky with scattered clouds. The bridge has a tall central arch and extends towards distant hills. In the foreground, a wooden railing overlooks the water, which is dotted with wooden posts. The scene conveys a sense of openness and tranquility.

Yep, In my experience you have to actually tell it to render it for you or you’ll just see the text window.

There are several recommended paths! I like the one recommended in the second image (which is one I captured in Powell’s in Portland.
A cartoon reading guide for the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. The guide is styled like an ancient scroll with illustrations of a skeleton and a book at the top. It includes colorful boxes connected by lines, each representing a book or series within the Discworld universe, categorized by themes such as Rincewind, Witches, Death, and Young Adult. The text at the top reads "The Discworld Reading Order Guide 2.2" by Krysztof H. Niezgoda and Anna Francuz.A bookshelf with books by Terry Pratchett. A handwritten sign reads "Welcome to Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld!!!" with a list of book titles and symbols.

Yep, that appears to be the intent. I still disagree with the original framing that this is what the average American earns.
A screenshot of the “Pay” section of the BLS data linked in the original post.

News Analysts, Reporters, and Journalists
Median annual wages, May 2024
Media and communication
workers
$70,300

News analysts, reporters, and journalists
$60,280

Total, all occupations
$49,500

Note: All Occupations includes all occupations in the U.S. Economy.

Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage
Statistics
The median annual wage for news analysts, reporters, and journalists was $60,280 in May 2024. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $34,590, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $162,430.
In May 2024, the median annual wages for news analysts, reporters, and journalists in the top industries in which they worked were as follows:

Media streaming distribution services, social networks, and other media networks and content providers
$77,460

Television broadcasting stations
$65,670

Radio broadcasting stations
$56,230

Newspaper publishers
$46,640

Most news analysts, reporters, and journalists work full time, and schedules vary. They may need to work additional hours or change their schedules in order to follow breaking news. Because news can happen at any time, they may need to work nights and weekends. They may also work nights and weekends to lead news programs or provide commentary.

The discworld novels have the best quotes for these trying times. Today’s installment brought to you from The Fifth Elephant
A photo capturing a section of a page in a book (The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett):
—
"I wonder if it'll change anything?" said Lady Sybil.
Vimes stared out of the window. It'd probably make people feel good, he thought. But trolls and dwarfs had been fighting for centuries. Ending that sort of thing took more than a handshake. It was just a symbol.
On the other hand... the world wasn't moved by heroes or villains or even by policemen. It might as well be moved by symbols. All he knew was that you couldn't hope to try for the big stuff, like world peace and happiness, but you might just about be able to achieve some tiny deed that'd make the world, in a small way, a better place.
Like shooting someone.

Went on a work trip this weekend and was treated to some beautiful views of the frozen Mississippi river.
The frozen over Mississippi under a clear blue sky. Smoke rises from buildings in the distance. A black window frame surrounds the image. The partially frozen Mississippi river with a bridge in the distance under a pink and blue sky. There is a concrete barrier in the foreground. There are power lines and buildings in the background. The scene is well-lit by pink sunrise light.

Nothing like trial by fire(hose) lol On a tangentially related note - For some reason my music lookup/playlist sharing app has a ton of refresh events on a consistent cycle with the Idunno.atproto library that I need to debug at some point - but it certainly makes my requests graphs look neat
Screenshot of the cloudflare dashboard with a dark background displaying web traffic analytics. At the top, a search bar shows "Path equals /xrpc/com.atproto.server..." with "Total requests" highlighted in blue at 509.99k. Below, a line graph plots requests over time from 21:00 to 18:00 the next day, peaking around 06:00 and 09:00. A world map highlights Canada in blue, indicating 509.99k requests from there. Beneath the map, a section titled "Requests volume by source" lists "Referrers" with "None (direct)" at 509.99k and "Paths" with "/xrp/com.atproto.server.refreshSession" also at 509.99k. Navigation controls for pagination are present.Screenshot of a cloudflare analytics page displaying a line graph titled "HTTP traffic for bridgebeats.link." The graph shows request frequency over time, with peaks around noon each day from Thursday to Wednesday. Below the graph, there are options to filter data by path, referrer host, country, path, and edge status code, with "Total requests" selected. The total number of requests is indicated as 3.1 million. The interface includes buttons for printing a report and downloading data, with the time zone set to PST.

Gesaffelstein standing at a his custom DJ decks. The lighting makes it look somewhat like the picture was taken in black and white, with fog from the stage wreathing the scene and stage lighting creating pillars of light within the photoA picture of the San Diego harbor at sunset. I believe this is the suggested reading order these days. It’s what I’ve been following at least but Im only part way through the series myself.
A graphic containing the discworld suggested reading order. It’s colorful and has fantasy elements such as candles sitting/melting onto skulls, and books that maybe a wizard would read.
The graphic is titled “The Discworld Reading Order Guide 2.2”.
There are multiple suggested starts for sub-series set in the same universe. From top down and left to right order the series is broken up into “Rincewind Novels”, “Science Novels”, “Witches Novels”, “Young Adult Novels”, “Tiffany Arching”, “Ancient Civilizations”, “Death Novels”, “Watch Novels”, “Industrial Revolution” and “Moist Von Lipwig”.

The coins are awesome and I was happy to pick one up and kick in a little extra as well I did have a question on this graphic though (on this page crashcoursecoin.com/blogs/news/w...) Is this supposed to say 13,500,000 hours viewed in the last year? Or is it really 1,350,000? The commas confuse me
A graphic from the crash course overview site that is divided into two sections with “CC” in a square at a 45 degree angle with “By the numbers Crash Course got…” on the left, and “148,433,115 views in the last year”, 13,500,00 hours viewed in the last year” and “85 episodes in the last year” on the right.

Sorry to hop into this conversation but I saw the earlier post from Scott and it made me sign up for some labelers. You can see what labels are assigned to you on your profile and there is a button to appeal. I assume the appeal goes to the owner of the label, so probably some potential for abuse.
Screenshot of the bluesky profile of @taylor.marvin.email that shows a message stating that 6 labels are applied to the account.
