@tautology0 @tautology@infosec.exchange @tautology.uk vi is the best editor. The Oxford comma is totally superfluous and does not need to be used in 90% of cases. "Die Hard" is not a Christmas film. "Internet" is a proper noun.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains.

Procrastinating by cleaning up the garage. Found my old CD case, which contained these this CD from about 20 years ago. I'm half curious as to what's on it.

Decisions, decisions. The ancient Nokia phone which can not hold a charge or the even more ancient Olympus camera that requires 4 AA batteries, which it will use up in seconds and I had to write my own code to extract images from its storage (or find a smartmedia card reader).

There are the Raspberry Pi 400 and 500 models. It's not quite a wedge, but it is a whole computer embedded in a keyboard.

Grok. The second image is terrible, hallucinations and random text. The first does seem to be trying to show images like those seen by Hubble or JWST. It's not bad looking, but it's not what I asked for. 33/35

Copilot. You'd be forgiven for thinking that this was the previous image, it's just added some more galaxy smudges. Terrible. 32/35

Gemini. Now this I like, it's tried to show the cosmic web and has referenced both the Sloan Great Wall and Cosmic Microwave Background (although it hasn't understood what they are). 31/35

ChatGPT has tried here, it's a selection of galaxies, but it's highlighted some galaxy clusters. It's okayish, but it's not the universe. 30/35

Grok. Both are just random dots and labels. It seems to be trying to show the local group as seen from a planet's surface, but the locations and sizes don't make sense. 27/35

Copilot has thrown in the towel now and is just painting science fiction magazine covers. It's painted one galaxy and then copy and pasted it four times at difference sizes. And what's with "Ursa Minor", that's a constellation, not a galaxy. 26/35

Gemini has more correct galaxies and the relative sizes are better. But the labels, they are so out. Placing the Magellanic clouds and dwarf galaxies inside other galaxies. Spelling has gone out of the window too. 25/35

ChatGPT. has drawn some galaxies, scale is out of whack. The galaxies are in the local cluster, although it's chosen the Milky Way, Andromeda and a selection of dwarf galaxies. Size and location of the galaxies is way out. Could be better, could be worse. 24/35

Grok has gone left-field and done something unexpected and spectacular. It's drawn the Milky Way from the surface of a planet. I have something similar in photo form mounted on my wall. It's not what I asked for, but they are good images. 21/35

Copilot's gone back to just drawing covers for science fiction magazines. I mean, it's a swirly thing in space. It could be a galaxy. It's not a labelled diagram of our galaxy though. 20/35

Gemini. This is more what I intended and it's done a good job. It's a barred spiral galaxy with the solar system and centre labelled (I will dock a point for using the AE spelling of "center"). The labels are less good, there are duplicates and are not well placed. 19/35

ChatGPT. I honestly don't hate it. It's a barred, spiral galaxy which looks okay. The labels show local galaxies which isn't what I asked, but then again I didn't say what to label. Good one. 18/35

Grok. I just can't really, this looks like a load of snooker balls. Placement and sizes are random, labels are put on random objects, things are confused. We also appear to have found a black hole called "Tcau"! 15/35

Copilot. Honestly, this is my favourite, okay it gets Mars, Venus and Mercury mixed up, Saturn and Jupiter have been merged and Uranus is labelled twice. Planet sizes are just weird. But, it's less bad than the previous two. 14/35

Gemini looks like a five year old has slapped stickers randomly on a picture. The labels are misaligned and include hallucinations ("Uranuu"). It references the asteroid and kuiper belt. Orbits go very strange. The moon Io gets two mentions, as does the unknown to science asteroid "Gurogan" 13/35

ChatGPT initially doesn't look too bad, but then you start looking closer ... All the planets are included, but in the wrong order. Pluto is the only dwarf planet, but I can let that off. There are two unlabelled objects next to the sun, no other features. And the orbits and, well, different. 12/35

Tautology @tautology.uk · 30/03/2026
Grok. And after you thought co-pilot was bad. We have two images which show a blue Saturn. The second has the five major moons, but with weird sizing and labelling. As for the first, I would really like to see a probe go to "Cootipibles". 9/35

Tautology @tautology.uk · 30/03/2026
Copilot. Well, um, well. I mean it gets the planet, rings and five major moons, although it looks more like the cover of a science fiction magazine that a diagram of a planetary system. 8/35

Tautology @tautology.uk · 30/03/2026
Gemini This is interesting, it has drawn a blue Saturn and has drawn 28 moons. It gets the five major names and images correct. Orbits and sizes are random and should be interspersed with the rings. There are hallucinations in the names and non-Latin characters. Also "Epson"?? 7/35

ChatGPT honestly makes a good effort. It has Uranus, rings and more moons than I expected. The moon order and orbits are totally wrong and the rings are too close. All the moon names are valid, but seem to be a random selection of the possible moons. 6/35

Oh. I'm horrified. For ScrollUp it does an LDIR, for ScrollDown it does an LDDR. But the way it implements it is ... manky. Self modifying code! (Labels and highlighting mine)

Grok has drawn, well, something. I like the Stonegate, Hipegate, Hayegate, Heyegate, Stonegate region in the north of the map. 27/27

Co-pilot is now hallucinating from the previous map with the moors, dales and vale of mowbray being moved into York. The street names are valid(-ish) but are in random locations. 26/n

Gemini looks like a map from a TTRPG where we have the island of York. It has included Clifford's Tower and the Shambles. But everything else is random. 25/n

ChatGPT has just given up here. We have the Minster and Clifford's Tower. Street names are random, although I like that it's renamed Coppergate as Willygate! 24/n

On to York, the prompt was "draw me a map of york labelling the major streets". For comparison, this is from Google maps. I expect to see the Minster, Clifford's Tower, Jorvik and maybe the railway museum. The rivers Ouse and Foss should make sense. 23/n

Grok gave me a photo of a map. It has pretty much gone full hatstand with barely anything recognisable. It's not even trying any more. 21/n

Co-pilot expands Yorkshire to pretty much the whole of the Danelore with a new capital of Manchesto. It has merged the river Ouse with the other river Ouse. We now have the Yokhire Dales. Lancashire had been replaced with Nothern Ireland! 21/n

Gemini has given up and Yorkshire has taken over the whole of England and Wales. Labels are just in random places now. I salute this version of Yorkshire! 20/n

chatGPT makes a good go, the shape's okay-ish. York has moved to Leeds. The mountain Whernside is now a river. The Peak District 2,415 fet have been imported from Derbyshire. Things at the edges are going random. 19/n

Grok has pretty much given up. London and Birmingham are okay, but everything else has been moved. Glasgow is now in Northern Ireland and Belfast is at the mouth of the Tyne. Ireland has disappeared with the new ocean called "Cardiff". The great sea of "Edihburgh" is to the east. 17/n

Tautology @tautology.uk · 27/01/2026
Co-pilot has started hallucinating too. It gets the sub-countries okay, expect it cannot handle Northern Ireland. France is now Turkey (from the previous map I guess). And York is now the city of Eeds 16/n
3272 27
Tautology @tautology.uk · 27/01/2026
Gemini is into full on hallucination here. London is in the Highlands, Birmbngom is in Eire. And we have a new capital on the North: Manchestom Tyne! Let's not forget that the souhern ocean is now south of Ireland. 15/n
3341 34
Tautology @tautology.uk · 27/01/2026
And chatGPT has started introducing weirdness. It looks okay, but look at Ireland; then notice Cardiff and Plymouth. Paris seems to have been renamed to Southampton! 14/n

Grok has pretty much lost at this point. There is so much wrong here. It's also started to really hallucinate names. 12/n

Co-pilot. Country shapes are all right-ish (if we ignore the north coast of Africa), but labels have gone totally funky. Russia has become Asia, and what has happened with the UK and Czechia? 11/n

Tautology @tautology.uk · 27/01/2026
Gemini. Oh dear, everything breaks now. The shapes are right, but labels are weird. Spain and the UK are swapped. Iceland in North America. Germany is France. Poland *and* Romania are Germany. 10/n

Grok. Grok gives two portratiimages, so I've picked the "best one". Because of the image limits it's very much centred over the Atlantic ocean with most of Asia and Austrailia missing. The labels are all over the shop. 7/n

Gemini gives it a fancy border which loses resolution but, well, it messes up the Americas, ignores Europe and merges the Atlantic Ocean and Southern Ocean into the Pacific. I have no idea what Anceria is? 5/n

Lunchtime fix. Original Gameboy belonging to one t'other half's co-workers needed the regulator board changed. One part purchased from Retrosix and 5 minutes soldering and we have a fully working Gameboy once more!
Back half of a yellow original gameboy with a replace voltage regulator board. The replacement has the text retrosix.co.uk on it.
