Hand tattoo
So I just got this hand tattoo it’s on my thumb and goes down to my wrist I have 23 tattoos and never had this happen I’m seeing if this is a concern or if this is normal for hand tattoos, it’s 6 days old right now normal itchy and scab phase but I just noticed this white pimple like thing as seen it is raised it’s not leaking anything I have been moisturizing and cleaning but maybe I’ve been doing to much moisturizing. The second picture it’s been like that since like the second day it doesn’t smell or it’s not leaking anything either, maybe it’s just cause it’s on the crease right there but any advice would be appreciated. 2 weeks in, will it get darker again?
First picture was taken the day after I got it, second pic is 2 weeks later. It’s lightened up quite a lot - will it darken again once it’s healed full? I’ve been moisturising it and cleaning it around twice a day. Kept hidden from direct sun exposure. Tia. Originally posted by Roses369 on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

No way a 12-14 inch flail tattoo should take 14 HOURS right?
Just got done with a consult for a traditional style flail, nothing crazy. Maybe a couple colors incorporated.

Was told it would probably be 2 full sessions, totaling 14 hours and being 2 grand. Like idk I know it’s a longer tattoo but that just feels really steep for a traditional style tattoo that’s fairly common. Dude has also been tattooing for just a couple of years so. Does thsi tattoo look weird or bad?
Hello people! I was hoping to get other tattooed people's opinion on my new tattoo.

I got it 2 days ago, from an artist I trust a lot, but I feel like i wasn't ready for how dark it really would be. Btw, this is a cover-up for a really small and colorful orange cat. All my other tattoos were black, and this particular cat was a very impulsive decision.

I'm not new to tattoos, but this is my biggest piece yet, and I felt the tattoo shock really hard.

Does it look bad, or weird, on my arm? I asked for it to be a floral design that could ornate with my other tattoos, but i'm thinking they don't really match.

Thanks guys! Originally posted by Scared_Goal_8569 on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

Suggestions for a tattoo in rememberance of a bonded animal
Dear Readers! I am asking for your advice on what kind of tattoo should I get in honor of Mini, my cat, whom I lost recently.

I have never had a tattoo and would only like one, that I can look at in it's entirety every day without looking in the mirror, preferrably on a hand or a arm.

She was extremely important to me and a very large part of my life. She was only 2 years old. I am in tears typing this out.

I appreciate all advice and suggestions. Originally posted by Dutyimadar on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

Should I talk back to my tattoo artist ?
Hey everybody, wanted a second opinion about my tattoo, it’s been around 4 weeks since I got it, everything was fine, tried to take care of it as much as I could, (not peeling it off, applying aftercare, and pretty much just letting it be). A bit frustrated rn bcs I did notice the big patches of ink around my wrist, after that I notice more patches next to the koi fish, on the grey area. When I show my tattoo to my friends most of them point out the white lines of ink on my shoulder, is it that normal, should i text back my tatto artist, is it because a bad work of the artist ? Or just a rejection of my body ? Am I overreacting a bit ? H e l p. Originally posted by Negative_Scholar_495 on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

Tat advice
This is my first tattoo. Going in for another session. Should I tell my artist to add a line to the wing or leave it as is? It’s Saint Michael with a halo over his head. I used photoshop to finish my idea. Also I know his hair isn’t complete but my artist said the wings were done today. Originally posted by Necessary_Theory_748 on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

Long story short I shouldn't have listen to the artist. What can i do to improve it?
Long story short I wanted a tattoo of a ghost pin up on my forearm. When I went to the tattoo artist who I found on insta the drawing she did was phenomenal.it blew me away how good it was. However she showed me a negative of it as well and said it would look better and unique and convinced me to do it in negative instead of traditional colors. When she was tattooing it it took 11 hours and halfway she seemed unhappy of her work. By then it was too late. Once we finished I realized I hate it. What can I do!? I am not open to laser. Ive been sick to my stomach since I got it done 2 days ago. Originally posted by Worried-Flamingo3858 on r/tattooadvice on October 9th, 2026.

Is my tattoo going to be discolored?
My artist said to keep my second skin on for five days, even if I got an ink sack. She said only take it off if the ink started coming out from under the second skin because that means it isn’t sterile anymore. I don’t have any issues with this but I’m concerned that the ink sack I had is started to absorb back into my skin. My tattoo had a good amount of light yellow and gold and my ink sack was primarily brown so I’m concerned that by letting it sit on longer it’s going to make all my colors darker or make the fine lines blend together. First picture is right after it was done, second picture is the next morning (about 16 hours after it was done), and third picture is now (about 48 hours after it was done). Scar cover up design
So basically I want to cover up this scar I’ve got following skin removal - these pics are from last year it’s since healed and will be ok to tattoo on/around now.

My idea in my head right now is like a symmetrical cyber sigilism style tattoo , just wondering first of all if there’s any other ideas people may have. I don’t really want a gimmick cover up (e.g zipper or something along those lines) just like a nice, symmetrical pattern on the area

I’ve had the following basic design off the artist I’m going with, but I’m wondering if people think it’s potentially too feminine of a design - not that that matters, but I think the area doesn’t help as usually men don’t get tattoos around their lower waist etc. less. Should I add the lines or leave it as is?
I recently had this beautiful sparrow done, the design was my own sketch which my artist stylized and adjusted to my anatomy.

I initially really wanted those lines, but I also love it how is right now (minus the few lines that need touching up). I have talked this through with my artist, but we are both on the fence about it, though he said ultimately it is my decision (obviously).

Just looking for some advice on a new section of sleeve
I'm just looking for some advice on a new section of my sleeve tattoo. Everything else has healed well and is just slightly peeling like normal. However, the one section near my ditch is very scaly and is constantly dry and burning regardless of the lotion that I use. I have also developed small bumps around areas of the new sections as well as on an old section of my sleeve now. This is now one week old.

I'm no stranger to healing my tattoos or having the scabs. However, this section has been burning since it was done and there's still redness around the edges. Was just looking for some advice whether I should get it looked at or if I should just continue with my regular cleaning and lotion during the day. What would you call this style of tattooing and how would I go about finding an artist in New England?
Credit to Gail Pozdniakova out of Long Beach, CA.

I love her style and it’s exactly what I want for a sleeve I have planned. Unfortunately, I am on the other side of the country in Massachusetts. I know she does stick and poke, but I’m just looking for what this specific art style would be called so I can try and find someone in my area. Is it stupid to get a tattoo at 18?
Hello! Ill get straight to it lol.

Im turning 18 this coming January, and my brother is turning 21 the following February.

Fullmetal Alchemist is a childhood shows of ours, and its still my favorite show to this day. We've wanted matching ouroborus tattoos for several years now - we're both quite close, and absolutely want a matching tattoo at some point. Especially since our careers are going to split us across the country pretty soon. (Im a jr. Pre-med, will be moving across the country for med school when Im 19, hes MEEG, will either be west coast or Texas). We both want it in the classic scarlet red in FMA, and Im thinking maybe a little more detailed with scales (second image ish)? Not very big though, placement wise Im thinking back of my upper arm.

Outside of FMA, I absolutely love what the ouroborus means to me. Constantly consuming your old self in an endless state of self improvement.

Now I dont know how much of this is our mormon upbringing - but tattoos have been frowned upon, especially getting them as young as 18. So Id like to ask you guys for your opinions. Should we wait a couple years? Thank you sincerely for your time :). Originally posted by Moistvelveeta on r/tattooadvice on October 8th, 2026.

What’s wrong with the heart?
Did I fuck up or did my artist? My artist told me to wash it with antibacterial soap and then use a little bit of ointment on it afterwards, which I’ve been doing. She said that she didn’t want to overstress the area so I could come back for touch ups if I wanted. I got this last Tuesday (9/29).

This is my third tattoo and I haven’t have any act quite like this— and I don’t think it’s an allergy to red ink bc I have red ink elsewhere.

Am I stressing over nothing or am I screwed? Originally posted by Nutmeg_z on r/tattooadvice on October 8th, 2026.

Done one week ago. Feel like its scabbing heavier than any tat Ive had, and maybe overworked? Scabs are THICK. Most have come off. Fresh pics at the end, I wash it 2x a day and apply unscented dr bronners balm thin layer after (allergic to mammal products). Help!! Too much filler. How do I fix this tattoo?
Exactly what the title says. I got this sleeve when I was 18 and just wanted to get tattoos. I really wish I had put more thought into how I wanted it to look. I’m 25 now and everyday I look down and hate how much filler there is.

The issue: WTF DO I PUT HERE? I’ve toggled with the ideas of blasting over it, maybe doing heavy black or red flames, I’ve even taken a marker and started doodling. But I can’t find something. Maybe it’s not one easy fix, maybe it’s a bunch of smaller tattoos but I worry the dots will come through.

I am NOT looking to fully cover it, I know it’s virtually impossible unless I blackout the filler (which I’ve debated). So please good people of Reddit, WTF DO I PUT HERE? I attacked pictures of the full sleeve and the biggest chunks of filler. Originally posted by Palali1 on r/tattooadvice on October 7th, 2026.

I already regret my tattoos I got done 2 days ago
I would’ve posted this on r/tattooregret, but they still haven’t accepted me and I just couldn’t wait to get this out of my system. I got these tattoos done only 2 days ago so I don’t have pictures of them healed. The last pic is the original design, and the second last is the final design with my requested tweaks. I so regret wanting to go darker and I think the more fineline look would’ve been so much better. These were my 2nd and 3rd tattoos ever and I’m 18. Genuinely what the f was I thinking getting any at this age. I know I’m sensitive but I’ve already cried at my stupid decision and that there isn’t a way to fix it. Only laser removal which I won’t be able to afford in a long time. I can’t sleep and I feel anxious because the part of my skin doesn’t feel mine anymore. I just wish I had gone with the fineline part of the original design :( Thank you for reading this. Originally posted by Emiv_ on r/tattooadvice on October 7th, 2026.

Healing advice for first big color piece
This is by far the largest piece I’ve had done, and the most ink put in at one time. This took about 7 hours total. I got it done this past Saturday (the 3rd) and for reasons I will leave in the comments, I did not get Saniderm when I left. I bought some and applied it the next morning, but because it’s on my hand and because my job is very physical, I could only keep the derm on for about 36 hours. Almost all of my tattoos have not gotten Saniderm so I thought that this wouldn’t be much different in terms of healing. Boy was I wrong. It is getting scabby on the berries, has some warmth for about an hour or two after each time I wash moisturize, still has a bit of inflammation, and is a bit tender to the touch on the inner forearm. It’s also SUPER dry. Like I feel like I need to moisturize every 2 hours. I’ve never had a tattoo so “active” before and I’m just getting worried that because I couldn’t get Saniderm at the studio or because it wouldn’t stay on that it’ll screw up the healing.

First two photos are current, last two are morning after. Originally posted by Am_i_sky on r/tattooadvice on October 7th, 2026.

Covering tattoo with white ink...?
So, my mother got that tattoo and regretted it. She got another one that she liked on her other arm.

But here's the question: the tattoo artist said it's a "new technique" to cover a tattoo with white ink and then do another one on top. Is that really true?

She plans to get a tiger or lion tattooed over it.

I told her it would be better to remove it with laser, but she didn't listen... And then this happened. Does this really exist? Originally posted by Yunnaya on r/tattooadvice on October 7th, 2026.

Are these lines faded for good?
Got this just over 8 weeks ago as my first tattoo. Here’s a pic day 1 and a pic of today (Upper, outter calf).

Was told to let it breathe, only to keep it covered for the first hour after the tattoo. I avoided swimming and sun, and only washed it with Dial Gold.

The lines seem to have faded very unevenly, am I being impatient? Or is it going to need a major touch-up?

edit: thanks the for the advice everyone. Definitely going to get it redone, and not by the same artist.

A year has passed since I got it. However, the bones are being less visible due to the black fading in. The fear of it being screwed is setting in.

I got this done a few weeks ago and need opinions
As it has heals I’ve noticed quite a few different things. One a lot of the letter and some lines need to be darkens but also a ton of depth details are missing alongside the label being really bad including some messed up lines on it.

The biggest thing that bothers me is that this design was part of my artist flash designs so I thought she was good at doing this design and I’ve been in awe of all her other work but I don’t know how to go about getting it fixed as I really don’t know how to fix the label portion of the design. Temporary cover ideas?
I have a few line tattoos (all black and only line work, don’t think they’re considered ‘fine line’ but)

I’m a party Princess and need to cover these bad boys up. I need makeup that
\-Won’t smudge for friction + water contact
\-Can withstand children touching
\-Is HEAVY. I need it to be FULLY concealed the best I can. I’ve considered using a nude body suit but none go over my hands or aren’t obviously an undershirt.

Character I’m concerned about is Rumi, who - I’m pretty sure I’ll have my arms covered. The only problem is my allosaurus and potentially my AVICII symbol on my stomach. Originally posted by ArcaneS2E6-34min10s on r/tattooadvice on October 6th, 2026.

Am I overreacting?
I just finished my half sleeve, and a few days later I noticed that the circles in the eye tattoo on my hand look uneven. I know my hand is still pretty swollen right now, so I’m wondering if the swelling, along with the natural tendons and curves of my hand, could be making the circles look distorted. The outer circle seems closer to the edge on one side than the other, and the inner circle is flatter on one side. Could this change as the swelling goes down and the tattoo fully heals? Should I get it changed due to cultural appropriation?
Hi there,

So I recently got my lip/chin tattooed and I actually love the tattoo and it means a fucking lot to me. Just as a little background: I have to deal with a lot of trauma caused by my family's religion which led to me struggling for the most of my life and nearly woild have caused my end 8 years ago. I'm in therapy since then and especially in the last year after I got out of my also difficult relationship I made so much progress and found also a spiritual way (shamanism in that case) that helped me a lot. I truely believe in this and I find so much strength through it. I always had a tendency for stuff like this since I was a child but was never allowed to practice or even speak over it, instead I got punished and abused. But I don't want to hide who I am anymore and I don't want to back down or make myself smaller for other ppl. I have suffered enough and although every tattoo I have is very important for me, since they tell my story of how I reclaim my strength and power back over the years, the face tattoo is something special bc it's always seen and can't be hidden, like I myself won't hide anymore.

The thing is when I got it I wasn't aware of the inuit tradition of face tattoos and their importance of it. And the last thing I want is to claim something from a culture that is clearly not mine. And since I found this out I feel really bad about it because I should have known better and do my research which I did not. It didn't crossed my mind due to the simplicity of the tattoo (I'm german and for example very aware of the problems with runic tattoos and other symbols). So I absolutely admit that I did a mistake and I apologize for that from the bottom of my heart.

I'm now think of adding a few lines to make it maybe more look like a bindrune or something. I'm just a bit worried that it then will look too big... Originally posted by Ulfynja_ on r/tattooadvice on October 6th, 2026.
