Can i rewrap my fresh tattoo for a couple of hours?
Can I rewrap this on day 2, if I clean it throroughly and lightly moisturize it, with saranwrap for a couple of hours as I go to dinner?

I'm going for food with some colleagues I'd forgotten about the link up, its tattooed yesterday and I dont want my jeans rubbing against it, I usually wear shorts at work and whatnot

The top part is fresh, buildings and cctv

*edit*
Not sure if I'm unclear or what

I'm not planning to keep the wrap on for days, just 2-3 hours and then taking it off again, not sure if some mightve misunderstood. Originally posted by Throw98689 on r/tattooadvice on October 4th, 2026.

What should I do with this!!
I originally wanted to make this a full back piece with nature all along the top, right and left sides and a road coming out of the bottom leading down towards my hip (i do vanlife on/off so road trips are a big passion). The leaves were going to be negative space (he would've shaded up until the leaves). The woman is supposed to be a version of me (engulfed in nature).

But I literally don't have it in me to get this full back piece anymore, and now there's a giant random woman on my back. I am heavily tattooed (sternum, ribs, full sleeve, legs) but this back tattoo hurt way too bad. I haven't even gone back to get it touched up in like 6 years. The artist is still available, thank God, but I don't know what I want to do with it! Anyone have any ideas? Something that just makes it "complete" without filling every space on my back would be amazing. I like Mandalas and really am connected to nature! Hot water wash
My tattoo artist told me to wash my new ink with hot water twice a day. He said he learned this Japanese method while studying under a Japanese artist. He said it closes the cells or something like that to stop plasma. Has anyone ever heard of this? Originally posted by Whatsayyou26 on r/tattooadvice on October 4th, 2026.

Traditional?
I’m posting a few pictures of my left lower arm for reference. For my next tattoo, I’m thinking about doing a leg piece in a traditional style (see the last photo for the vibe I’m going for).
Do you think it would look weird having such different tattoo styles on my arm and leg, or can totally different styles still look cohesive? Originally posted by Aliallaround on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

first/new tattoo - dermaskin
Hi everyone,
I just got my first tattoo yesterday and had a question about the dermaskin. my artist told me to keep it on for 4-6 days however i have seen multiple people saying to remove the bandage after 24hrs to clean it and then reapply a new one. just wondering what is best.
Thank you :). Originally posted by Sylveonscharm on r/tattooadvice on October 4th, 2026.

Does this look like its healing ok?
So got this about 4 days ago. I noticed today the middle heart with the bee was alittle red and tender compared to the rest and it feels alittle warm to the touch.. its starting to scab over now.. Just curious if others think its healing ok for being about 4 days out? Originally posted by Ninalovestoes on r/tattooadvice on October 4th, 2026.

Just got my first tattoo, does it look poorly done?
i’m 18 and i got my first tattoo today. i like the way it looks from the mirror, but when i actually look down at it i start to notice all the imperfections in the lines and shading and start to feel a bit iffy about it. i can’t tell if im just looking too closely and being overly critical or if its actually poorly done. opinions? HELP
Bruh, please read this.
Every time I get a tattoo, I do my research. I look at their work, read reviews, and make sure I actually like what I’m seeing. I had been watching this artist for a WHOLE YEAR. A WHOLE YEAR. I finally decided to book with him.
I called and talked to him beforehand, and he sounded genuinely excited to do my tattoo. That honestly made me even more excited. He was hyping my shit up, saying he had never seen anything like it and couldn’t wait to do it.
The next day, which was yesterday (Friday), I walked into the shop. He was sitting there drawing up my tattoo, and the shit looked JUST like the picture. Everything seemed normal at first. He had a little bit of a weird limp, but he told me and my boyfriend he had broken his toe, so I brushed it off.
He got up, grabbed my stencil, put it on my arm, and everything was still fine.
Then this dude said he needed to go “smoke.” I thought, whatever, go ahead. He came back and said, “Let’s do it.”
Now, I know every tattoo artist is different, which is why I let it go as far as it did before I finally had to stop.
He started off REALLY heavy-handed. My tattoo does have shading, so at first I thought maybe that was just his technique. But then I started feeling these HARD drags of the needle across my skin.
This man kept nodding off WHILE STILL HAVING THE TATTOO MACHINE AGAINST MY ARM. Over and over.
At that point, I had to literally make up an excuse and tell him I wanted to come back another day just to get myself out of that situation.
I’m telling y’all right now, I’m not letting this shit go. I’m going to keep speaking on it until that shop faces some type of consequence and until I get this tattoo properly covered/fixed.
And yes, I understand addiction is sad. I understand people struggle with it. But at some point, you have to be responsible for the choices you make—especially when those choices can hurt somebody else.
You chose to get high and then tattoo somebody while you… Originally posted by MajorDull4986 on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

So I feel like I’m kind of screwed…
I started a full-leg sleeve with an artist. The collage of finished tattoos is the vibe I was going for (done by other artist(s), not my artist) — botanical stuff, muted colors, skin breaks between all the stuff. Somehow, my artist forgot and thought we were coloring in the background (which is all of the black and dark teal on my leg) — she initially had that vision when I proposed the sleeve to her and must’ve forgotten we decided to NOT do that 🙃 At my session yesterday, I was laying in my stomach for 2 hours, and unbeknownst to me, she shaded in all that dark background. Sigh. I had no idea. I was in shock when I saw it and didn’t say anything very direct at the time (her kid was there so it felt extra weird), and what’s done was done, anyway! So we basically stopped there for the day.

I’m seeking advice on what to do now. I am definitely not going to commit to all of my leg being shaded in, that’s not what I wanted at all. I know this part can’t be undone, so does anyone have ideas on how to make it look intentional? How to somehow fade it out from there so that the rest of the leg having no background doesn’t look mismatched? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Knee tattoo while traveling
I usually like to get travel tattoos when I'm visiting a new country. I found an artist and I think her style would be perfect for a side of the knee tattoo, and I'd like to do matching tattoos on both my legs. Picture to give an idea of size and style, not exact design.

I've seen people say knee tattoos swell and I won't be able to walk. I have two more days of travel after the tattoo. Don't have anything big planned for the last two days, but I'd like to walk a bit, maybe sit at a cafe.

Thoughts or recommendations? Should I just do one leg? I'd hate to get stuck with just one leg done and I'm not sure when I'll be in her country again.

Or do one leg bigger and the other smaller in the same style?

I have tattoos, but not on my legs. I'm less worried about the pain, and more about possible swelling.

Tank you!! Originally posted by Evidence_Basic on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

tattoo regret is normal right? what can i do?
second pic is with saniderm. this is my third tattoo ever, and it’s a coverup of my first. so i technically have two. i got it done yesterday & the day before - it’s also my biggest and most detailed tattoo. i’m worried it looks out of place on my arm, that it doesn’t suit me, or that it’s hard to decipher what it is from a distance. please be nice. i looove this tattoo, it’s so beautiful. i’m just like,, maybe i should’ve said something about how it would read from a distance? i’m pretty sure i asked and she said it was fine. but i couldve asked for like white border lines around the cat or something. i dont know. she scheduled a touch up for 2 months out but i dont know how i would fix it to make it more legible from a distance without like ruining it. or if anything would help atp. am i overreacting? is it just normal not to know what it is from far away? does it need color? i didn’t really want color… maybe when it heals and it’s not so dark it will be easier to see? just. advice guys… advise me. i’m feeling anxious and upset over something so beautiful and i dunno why. My daughter made me a bracelet a few months ago and I love it but it’s starting to stretch and might break soon. I was thinking of getting a tattoo of it but..

Cake pin up I got yesterday
Just got this tattoo yesterday and I love it! The artist said feel free to come back if any of it lightens up in the next couple weeks here. I noticed that on the far left side of the tattoo, on the lower piped icing shell, it looks less shaded than all the others. Does it look okay or am I just staring at it too hard? Struggling with pain
I just finished session 3 of a full back+ butt ornamental blackwork piece similar to the one i posted (not mine, just for reference, i don't have pictures of mine yet).

Holy shit the pain is beyond anything i ever experienced and I'm moderately tattooed, mostly traditional style and i have a high pain tolerance.

I can do two hours max of the black, after that im crying and shaking. The lines were also horrible, i couldn't even cope with it. I'm dreading every session.

How can i deal with the pain better? I don't want to do numbing creams since the healing can be wack with those and I don't want to do it twice. Has anyone experienced this? How have you dealt with it? I still have at least 2-3 sessions to go. Originally posted by Countenanceofevil on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

Future patchwork sleeve design and placement suggestions?
I've gotten my first tattoo this year with personal meaning, I'm happy with it as is but now that I've had it for a while I am loving the idea of slowly turning it into a patchwork sleeve from the places I travel to. Any ideas/suggestions on how to keep it cohesive but not restrict to a theme too much?

I also think I would prefer to stay black/white/grey with maybe one pop of colour. Current tattoo is 3".

What would be the next best placement for a piece? I'm travelling soon so might get another

Dragon is a cover up, obviously 🙄 advice on how to make it less obvious.
I love this tattoo but that black spot in the middle drives me crazy. I don’t want to take away from the dragon but I wouldn’t mind covering that spot up I just have no clue on how. I was thinking about maybe having the dragon fly behind a black castle hiding its lower body. That’d be a massive tattoo (I really want to try to honor the integrity of the red dragon. Or maybe like another black dragon?
At this ping I might even consider laser. Originally posted by Plastic_Leather_5409 on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

Tattoo looking blown out in some areas during healing. Is it too early to judge??
Got this tattoo exactly a week ago on my inner calf. I have several other tattoos and never had an issue with blowout. This was my most expensive tattoo from an artist I’ve followed for years.

I’m kinda worried as it’s healing that some of the lines (especially the left arm/hand and the head of the bird) are looking blown out. Is it too early in the healing process to judge it or am I right??

Last slide is freshly done. I took off the second skin after 48 hours and as soon as I washed it I noticed the lines looking real blurry in those areas. I understand lines expand and such but none of mine look like this. I still like it but I just worry about how much worse it’ll get with time.

Any advice appreciated, thank u!! Originally posted by VarietyOne6751 on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

Leg and thigh
Hi everyone, just got this piece done a in 2 sessions finished up Monday night. Been washing with antibacterial soap and this cream they gave me. I do have hustle butter and I will switch over to that. I have been washing 2-3x a day and applying cream and lightly rubbing in. Only issue I’m facing is shorts rubbing a bit that cause a bit of irritation. Second picture is what it looks like now 4-5 days later. Is there anything I should do more or less of? Does this tattoo look okay? Worried it’s not reading correctly.
It’s a column and I know the line work isn’t awesome up close, but that’s not my biggest worry. Does it look phallic?! I tried to show pics of it in situ if anyone ever saw it in the wild. Up close I do feel it looks like a column, but from far away…? If this blows out and gets super dark is it going to lean that way? Or am I being delusional?

EDIT: I’m getting a lot of screws/bolts/flashlights comments, and to those with the good eyes, an ionic column. Hindsight’s 20/20 on the base. I know it’s a funky placement, but I like it because it’s a structural element on my leg (means something to me) and in a lowkey spot because most of my tats are “hidden”.

Thank you guys so much for the feedback and the laughs!! 😁. Originally posted by Cardinal-Carnival on r/tattooadvice on October 3rd, 2026.

Knee tattoo
Hello :) I’m planning a trip to Japan in November and there is a tattoo artist who is willing to do this knee piece for me. I’m hesitant to get the tattoo done because it would be at the beginning of my trip and the trip is two weeks long so I basically would be walking around 20,000 to sometimes even 30,000 steps a day on a fresh piece. After speaking to the tattoo artist, they do not have any concerns about doing the tattoo, but I would just like some advice/ opinions. I only have one tattoo and it’s on my arm.

Genuinely, Can I Get These Tattooed Over? (Scars, not wrinkles.) And What's A Design That Could Work Well With My Arm, If It's Possible?
My problem is that they scrunch up like this when I bend my arm. Would that make it hard for a tattoo design to ultimately look good? I just want these faux wrinkles to look better.

How will the gray age?
I love this tattoo so much, but as it’s healing, I’m worried the opaque gray in the eyebrows, ears, and tail is just going to disappear. This is at 1.5 weeks btw, and my first tattoo with any color. It looked a lot darker before it healed. Would it be weird to ask the artist if they could maybe darken the gray spots or even go over it with black as a touch-up?

Do you think a rose would fit this gap well?
I'm going to a flash pop up tomorrow and thinking about potentially filling this gap with a traditional rose. My only concern is that I can't center it on my elbow because the dagger handle is sitting too close, so it would have to be slightly off center. Do yall think it would still read nicely?

Am I undermoisturizing?
I got this beauty 4 days ago (Sunday)! First big color tattoo. Artist applied second skin, but the seal broke on my way home, so I took it off that night. Last pic is right after I took it off. Since then, been gently washing it twice a day using dial gold + lukewarm water with my hand, air drying, followed a thin layer of unscented lubriderm after. Otherwise I don't touch it. It feels quite dry/tight all the time, and today I noticed some small bleeding cracks (circled). Should I be applying the lubriderm more frequently? I know overmoisturizing is something to try and avoid. Originally posted by Sunflower-infused on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.

Did I ruin everything by getting the full sleeve done or is it just my anxiety?
EDIT: ARM TATOO - not a full sleeve. Didn't realize y'all would get so upset over that part.

Sorry, long post. Just need to vent a little I guess.

(Weird marks on my stomach are from my back brace)

Got this done in June, and then had to go back for touch ups in August. I’ve been back and forth with the tattoo regret and anxiety since getting it mainly cause I feel like now it just looks like “too much” along with my other tattoo.

I got my other tattoo from the ages of 18-21. Started with the side and added the back and then arm throughout those years. I always thought I would just leave it as my one and only big tat until like 14 years later decided to get this one.

I didn’t have the best experience working with this artist, so maybe that’s also part of why I’m not happy. We did the whole thing in about five hours and without going into too much detail, there was quite a bit I wasn’t happy with. She didn’t speak English much, so idk if that played into anything.

After dealing with the Saniderm irritation nightmare, I waited until August to go back in. I had to go back in a second time after that because I noticed there were still parts I wasn’t happy with. Maybe I was being too much a perfectionist, but I just wanted things done well this time around since I was young and let the artist free-hand my entire other piece (which I’m also not super happy with on some areas lol). I just wanted to feel really good about a tattoo this time around, and that didn’t happen. Maybe cause she also kind of free-handed everything vs applying a full stencil. Who knows. Maybe that’s my curse lol.

When I went back for the touch ups, one of things I asked her to fix were the areas where there was a lot of ink fallout, but I think she went too heavy on those areas so now those parts just really stick out and have that bold/blurry look. Those spots just stand out a lot and I keep looking at them.

I guess I’m still just dealing with the feelings of not liking this on my body. Es… Originally posted by Icantreadcat on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.

Getting my first tattoo
Hey everyone. I’m planning on getting my first tattoo tomorrow and was planning on getting the picture attached below. When showing my parents all I got was negativity and a lot of “it’s very girly”. It is meant to represent my grandpa and I. My grandpa was diagnosed with ALS and the top bird was going to have torn and worn wings. I’m a very indecisive person and felt good about this tattoo at first. I’ve always wanted two swallows or icrus… but could never decide. I would love advice. 2nd tattoo + requesting advice
I have part of my upper arm manticore almost done (needs shading getting done in a week) and I’m looking to see what people think as it’s my 2nd tattoo but I do really like it. I’m also trying to see if there is some way my artist can improve my first tattoo as I don’t like the patterns in the front (animal print) and what I should tell him as he offered to make any changes/touch ups? Thank you! Originally posted by FeelingAd6187 on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.

starting to have regrets..
i’m gonna be honest. i was bored and wanted a tattoo. did a walk in for a simple ear tattoo and i left pretty happy. I discussed with the artist i was pretty flexible with designs and im ok not having it look the same. i dont want a copy of someone else’s tattoo.

today at work i was told it reminded a coworker of mike tyson. yeah. the more i look at it the more i think wtf was i thinking. no one liked it. i’m really starting to regret it and i’ve never regretted a tattoo before.

is there any saving this? is it really that bad? i know ear tattoos fade quite a bit but maybe i can rework it a little with another artist? Originally posted by No-Lavishness-8515 on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.

Not sure if my tattoo artist too slow or I’m being impatient

Can you immediately tell whats under this?
Can you tell what is under this cover up?

Just want to know if it's standing out SO obviously to me, because I know what was there.

This was done by a very early apprentice, so I'm not okay with it being picked apart. I am all for giving people a chance to grow, and they need real skin to work with to enable that growth :)

(\*NOTE- small amount of shading was done just a few hours ago in 4 small areas. Which is why some looks brownish Rn. Rest is healed and about a month old. ). Originally posted by Dense_Ad_5256 on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.

Tattoo Regret - Orange
Hi,

I have a tattoo that’s about 12 hours old.

It’s a cover up, so some of my other tattoo can be seen.

I’d been wanting the cover up a while, and never had any design in mind. Because of this, I just gave the artist full rein and some basic prompt. For example, I wanted something hidden from the vase, cover the leaves and oranges.

In the first stencil sketch, the second orange was much smaller, and the lower orange was significantly larger. However it was too large to the point it looked silly. As a result, this orange was made smaller, but then the second orange was also made a bit bigger.

I feel like the branch and orange looks silly and incredibly disproportionated. It looks incredibly top heavy, and almost comical.

There are some other stresses going on, so I’m unsure whether I’m just in some state of shock and stress and a bit scrambled, or whether it is just plain stupid. It is stipple, so some of it will fade. I do also like the texture of the branch. I can’t really explain it, my eyes are just drawn there are it detracts from everywhere else.

He did also ask if I wanted to wait until I had a design (I haven’t had for years), so I also feel like I just should have waited or left it alone. I even had a dream that I made him anxious and that the tattooist regrets doing it.

Please be kind. Originally posted by Rredgrapess on r/tattooadvice on October 1st, 2026.
