It's a weird comparison, but Blade Runner 2049 reminded me of City on Fire. Both showcase the filmmaker's mastery of scene-to-scene transitions. After K learns the truth about his memories, he's arrested—much like Chow Yun Fat’s professional life destroying the personal. Love it!
