I got “commissioned” to do another album cover art piece; first time trying #pixelart. It’s very early stages and rough colour blocks. Now working with a dynamic pixel brush for finer details. Wish me luck! #art #wip #artwip #vinylart #musiccoverart #albumcoverart #artshare

Well done, Martyn! Hopefully this goes both ways in that there are still people, who won’t take artists and their hard work for granted. What an amazing collection of bug art!

Probably a thing on instagram as I could not find the account here. A lot of calls for artists/ contests/ and themed october prompt lists going round there. Whilst great, I also worry about posting on IG since Meta/Zuck is a d1ck and basically claims all content under his ownership by default. ☹️

Filters also include data visualisation which in the 8 resource results has things listed for artists/graphic designers, including apps like Inkscape (which I’m familiar with). R based data resources also sound super interesting! There might be more art resources for paleo/paleo-fantasy/sci art

Clouds seem to be really hard this time round, because all colours in that sky. Indecision on lighting direction and whether more textured (blobby) or smooth also comes into play. Definitely #overthinking again. #art #artstruggles #AuDHD #digitaloilpainting #landscapepainting #artshare #WIP

Square landscape painting of outside Ushuaia in Argentina. Perspective from a plane landing. A colour explosion in the sky seems something Ishuaia is famous for. The landscape is mountains and snowy/icy. This will be turned into Album Cover Art. Undecided on lettering/font for “Flyway”.

I just gave some unsolicited advice and hope that guy isn’t taking it the wrong way 😬. I mean, it looks like he may be completely new to the graphic design thing (and didn’t use AI, but who knows?). We need human art and design, so I thought to give out some free knowledge I learned along the way.

“The Wonders We Encounter” - digital oil painting made nearly entirely with the Fresco Brush from @angrymikko.bsky.social oil brush set. A canvas brush and HB pencil (for the butterfly was also used. #art #artist #artshare #conceptart #digitalart #blueskyart #oilpainting

Digital oil painting:

A big fantasy character with rabbit like features in raggedy clothing and a weapon or farming equipment. A tiny child version of the character in a peach coloured dress (maybe the character’s daughter) stands on the father’s (?) hand/ farming tool holding onto his cloth, while also reachring for the big butterfly that rests on the farming tool.

Colours are mostly greens and some blues, browns, off blacks, a blue sky with exploding reds, oranges and yellow from a setting sun behind the mountain range. The butterfly is lavender coloured.

This is the original illustration by keyresonance, who invited everyone to submit their own style/version of this piece. I have no idea what DTIYS stabds for… lol

My Get-Out-Of-Jail-Card would be to call it #abstract / #abstractart and title it “City Reflections”. A big loving thank-you to my caring partner, who suggested this and told me off for putting myself down. #IamAnArtistAfterAll #fineart (if I may be so cheeky lol)

Goopy mess of acrylic blacks, blues, magentas, yellows, and whites; very abstract and somewhat reminiscent of a cityscape waterfront with a snowy mountain on the left that doesn’t quite fir the landscape. But one get away with it by calling it all abstract art. LOL

I work exclusively with palette knives on this. It’s my first time use these mediums. And faaark, those mofo-ing acrylics dry up gast, even when mixing in a few drops of water, which then takes away the impasto effect (I didn’t by medium paste thbigy stuff)…

It’s never easy to relive childhood trauma; even harder when important details remain inaccessible but you suspect that the version that a narcissist has told you about certain events all your life may be a lie + the truth more sinister. #art #darkart #traumapainting #WIP #memoryloss #gaslighting

WIP in portrait format:
A dark figure (unfinished pose) standing in the doorway on top of a staircase. The doorway leading to a dark room. The arms and hands of a falling toddler reaching towards the figure. A spiral overlay, a teddy, toy, and toddler’s drinking bottle flying around in midair to represent the fall. It will remain unclear whether the dark figure is trying to reach out to the child in despair or whether it pushed the child.

“The Escape”. I went through the process painting over the print-on-canvas with acrylic gel gloss as a means to varnish and make the print look more like a real painting. There are bits I might have to go over again but overall it looks better than just print. #art #artist #artshare #fineart (?)

Embellishment process shot:
Prints of digital paintings can look a little flat, especially if printed on canvas with the goal to make it look like a real painting.

One way is to use acrylic gel gloss and apply it to your print with traditional tools (brushes, spatula, palette knife, sponge… whatever texture you want to achieve).

This is me applying thicker impasto brushstrokes to part of my painting that I want to stand out a bit.

Close-up of the Phoenix part of my print showing the white specks of painted on gel which needs to dry.

The finished (?) product. I might have to go over it again, especially night sky. The dabbed sponge texture is too weak.
