If you weren’t around when the second Jurassic Park movie hit, you probably won’t understand how cool it was seeing this ad at the time. Here’s a high-res scan of a Toys R Us Lost World ad from 1997.

Yea, I feel like pre-80’s there wasn’t really an established look for a skeleton. I kinda blame Skeletor for solidifying a certain look. 🤔

010

Something about the art of that skeleton I really like. Can't put my finger on it. But something about that face and the odd pose. That combo makes it feel a little... eerie? I don't know. I really like it.

Been going to ComicCon pretty much since it started, but this is the first year I went that I was really into Figuarts. Ended up getting all the exclusives. I’m not a super crazy collector of these, I just get what I like. But these were pretty nice pieces.

It’s… fine? Lol not as hype as some previous years. But it’s nice.

Here’s 4 things I saw in a 99 cents store today that I thought were… interesting. An old Simpsons Christmas decoration. A doll for a Marvel superhero I never heard of. A Scoob inflatable. Wakanda Forever stickers. Just thought it was funny how they made stickers for this movie.

Here’s a high-res scan of a TV Guide ad for Treehouse of Horror IV from 1993.

I watch Panga and Ryukahr on YouTube. Both really good players. They’ve been playing since Maker 1 and just kept going. Panga just beat his 10,000th level recently on Maker 2.

Spending this cold, rainy afternoon watching Mario Maker gameplay and flipping through a Nickelodeon Magazine from 1997. Pizza is on the way. 👌🏻

Cartoon Network airing black and white Looney Tunes in 2026?! Wow...

Tales from the Cryptkeeper trade ad (1994). They included “Live from the Crypt” here to push the franchise as a kid-friendly brand. Pretty forgotten today, but Live from the Crypt was an educational book series where the Cryptkeeper interviewed historical figures.

This was a great episode. As much as I feel like I’m a retro pop culture archivist, I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t know about most of these.

Looking at some of these old Halloween costumes on eBay, and you know what? Beetlejuice totally would wear a shirt with his face and logo on it.

I didn’t realize these were a thing until I came across a Super Mario one on eBay well into the 2000’s. Don’t know how I lived through this era and never noticed them. Guess my eyes were fixated on Ben Cooper and whatever the local pharmacy was selling.

Probably one of my more obscure scans… here’s listings for some cake toppers from a 1984 Wilton catalog.

With that said. DragonBall is so imbedded into US culture now that any kid going to school will know Goku is a Saiyan, Gohan is his son. The same way I knew Superman was from Krypton but never read a Superman comic. So going into Super as a kid now, you just know this lore. It's so weird.

Speaking of arc breaks allowing new fans to come in. I see this with my nephews. They love DBS and see DBZ as "the old series" the same way Toonami fans probably saw the original DB. As someone who sees DBZ as THE main DB series, it's hard for me to fathom someone enjoying DBS in a vacuum like that.

Oh yea. That was my go-to Sunday morning routine as a kid. The best is when you found a Toys R Us circular in there too.

For no reason, here’s some high-res scans of a Best Buy newspaper circular from March 2001.

FAO Schwarz in Manhattan. Sorry, I know it’s not an easily accessible store.
