Remember the other day when I was asking about Lantern? Well, I fixed up an old NaNoWriMo project from 2016 and will now be releasing a new chapter from it twice a week (Tuesdays & Fridays). Site is free while in alpha. Cover art by Ravenborn Covers. 🔗 below:

Have any of my fellow writing friends tried out Lantern Serials? I’m in the alpha and was pondering uploading a story to that and releasing a chapter or two a week with it, but wanted to hear what other people thought of it beforehand.

Time for good news/bad news, Howsden edition! Good news: I've finished up the first draft script of my first ever musical. Bad News: Converting scripts into something that can be read as an ebook is...trickier than I would have thought. So excited for how this is turning out!

Have any of you ever written a #musical before? Got mine lyrically complete for the initial draft & nearly scripted out, but not sure what is next. Editing? Recorded soundtrack? And what is even the right level of cover art for this? Just book & album, or does it need more?

10 years ago, I made my NaNo word count for the first time. But the last half of that story was unsalvagable. Since then, that story has sat on my "someday" pile with the hope that I would eventually get back to it. Today, I ordered the paperback proof copy of that story. More to come.

Hey all! It's been a bit since I've given a real update. Usually this would mean that there wasn't much to say but...really, my impromptu social media kind-of strike had more to do with personal stuff than anything else. That personal stuff is still going on, but... (1/x)

A friend gave me a realization the other day: writing may actually be my mid life crisis. It makes sense. After all, I wrote Cora Christensen during a particularly rough time mentally. I've said many times that writing that story was absolutely therapeutic for me.

Quick announcement: Yara will be leaving Kindle Unlimited on January 25th in order to prepare for wide release. So if it's on your KU TBR, you have about three weeks left.

2025 Year In Review To say this was a banner year for me creatively would be an absolute lie. Given the multitude of life events happening this year, something had to give & that unfortunately was working on creative projects. But there were still a couple achievements of note.

Got my proofs from two different companies recently, KDP (who I use now) & Draft2Digital. Each has some pros & cons. Colors definitely come out different as does the layout. Not sure how to do maps in D2D yet. Not convinced I’ll change that yet, weighing the options.

If you played MMOs around 2020, you may remember how the population of FFXIV exploded w/ former WoW players after Blizz’s scandals. If @barnesandnoble.com, @draft2digital.bsky.social, IngramSpark, or Lulu have the right setup, I could totally see them scooping up indie authors for the same reasons.

Getting close to publishing my next story, but I’m at a bit of a crossroads as to how to do it. Most of my books have had at least one run on KU first with a freebie special at launch, but I’ve been taking everything wide lately. So how should my next book launch? KDP exclusive or wide to start?
