Man....2025 has been a very lucky year for me! Managed to get my hands on a MSM6258V IC Chip. Now I can mix FM with ADPCM samples. I plan to use this chip for drum samples and whatever else samples. HOPEFULLY I can get some nice sounding vintage Orc hits~

Was playing some Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and unlocked a lot of the soundtracks the game has. Great to see the man @teelopes.bsky.social music from Sonic Mania make it in~

I've been discussing with a Synthesizer community on discord and with what I have learned I plan to instead of assembling my YM2608 card, I will use those parts for something greater. A true FM Synthesizer powered by the YM2608. There's some other stuff I must order/acquire. 1/2

Tankblade Fan BGM Maker @tankblade.bsky.social · 31/08/2025

Operation Complete. All achievements unlocked. Afterwards I did get the true ending on a lower difficulty. @yuzokoshiro.bsky.social thank you and everyone for making such an incredible game. See You Next YKGGG~

2 more achievements left in #earthion and they are Hard Mode and Hotshot Mode achievements. The real journey begins. This game is real good I'll probably end up buying it on the Switch 2 and the Megadrive and who knows....if I really want to I'll get an Exa Arcadia and that version as well 1/2

Tankblade Fan BGM Maker @tankblade.bsky.social · 26/08/2025

I have become closer to attaining the rank of Hotshot. The tough journey is so satisfying~ #earthion #retro #gaming

So I have a YM2608B and a YM3016-D. Originally I was going to build this card with the supplied components but now I'm getting ideas of making one with MIDI ports. Issue is....I have no idea what to expect in terms of components, what I'd need to change. 1/2 #DIY #music #synthesizer

Earthion fun fact: After you have gotten to a certain point in the game you get a new ship due to the original YK-IIA being destroyed during an escape from explosion sequence. The game never tells you the name on the Steam version but the Exa Label version calls it the YK-3 #earthion #exaarcadia

The drums in earthion sound fm synthesised. But there's a lot of FM going on at the same time so the there's not enough FM channels. Could it be the drums were created on the FM channels and then sampled to be used on the sample chip on the Genesis? Such wonders! @yuzokoshiro.bsky.social

Tankblade Fan BGM Maker @tankblade.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

Earthion is a very good game. When you complete a level you get nothing but pure satisfaction! Another neat thing is if you check the extras list in the game you will notice they included not only the past demos but a playable prototype. I recommend playing the prototype before beating the main game

Tankblade Fan BGM Maker @tankblade.bsky.social · 01/08/2025

Earthion has High Pass and Low Pass settings you can tweak to really nail the sound of Earthion to your liking~ Keep in mind that it is a good idea to learn and really read up on how High Pass and Low Pass works in the idea of sound for FM Synthesis #earthion #yuzokoshiro #fm #steam #gaming

A grand reminder! @yuzokoshiro.bsky.social and his team's Earthion will be releasing in 3 days! The game will be on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and SEGA Genesis (you read this right, SEGA Genesis). I have a strong feeling this game will be a huge breath of fresh air~!

If ya'll haven't checked out Falcom's X68000 version of StarTrader music then I recommend it. It uses the ym2151 soundchip for cleaner sounds along with the OKI MSM6258V for the samples. Zone Silva has a MEAN Bass in the entire song~

Tankblade Fan BGM Maker @tankblade.bsky.social · 14/07/2025

All I need now is the Soldering Mat, A certain solder type, and an IC Removal tool to move my soundchip to the new hardware after assembly. assembly will happen after a song request I'm making for another amazing friend!!!

YM2151 + Korg M1 = High quality retro arcade drums. I'll reveal that after I've finished the song remake. It's not a falcom song this time! It's a song from an X68k game. #FM #x68k #YM2151 #korg #korgM1

The only non-indie game to have all achievements. I enjoyed the game. I can definitely see the difficulty curve on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty is more smoothed out for newer players which explains the additional settings for the difficulty veterans can use to make the game more their style.

Oh yeah so I do have a YM2151 Synth. I've had it for a long time. I just don't have enough room on my desk to also set up my OPSIX as the keyboard to use it. At least I think my OPSIX has a Sequencer feature on it. I'll need to read up more on MIDI hardware when I finish a alert collection.

I'm genuinely confused as to how Nintendo can have fine print about how the reservers of the Switch 2 in the queue are a first come first serve yet I hear of some friends who registered some days later than me but got the email to pre-order the switch 2 while I got a "you are in the queue still" 1/2
