An ultra-broadband photonic-chip-based parametric amplifier - Nature
An optical parametric amplifier based on integrated photonic circuits fabricated using low-loss gallium phosphide-on-silicon dioxide demonstrates improved bandwidth and gain performance over state-of-the-art erbium-doped fibre amplifiers while maintaining a low noise figure.

Use of michelson interferometer in dark state configuration and reducing photon number variance(radiation pressure variance) by squeezing on photon number quadrature can be a useful in improving sensitivity of the LIGO experiment

Imaging beyond diffraction limit where detector noise can be mitigated by the squeezed vacuum injection is another useful application

optical parametric amplifiers are capable of generating multitude squeezed states of light for use in both vacuum squeezed states as well as bright squeezed states in multimode squeezing applications

Squeezed light is used in both Squeezed Vacuum, as well as Squeezed Bright light each with correspondent uses (compensate for detector noise in former and generating sub-poissonian light in latter)

Squeezed light continues to move beyong single mode applications into multimode spatially squeezed modes which leads to Quantum Imaging. Photon quadrature are squeezed pairs, Photon number and phase are quadrature pairs etc. 1/2

Leonard Mandel, whom ECG Sudharshan recruited to Univ of Rochester, laid foundations of balanced homodyne detection and enabled field measurement of optical fields instead of just intensity by use of this clever interferometric technique

some of the fun and surprising stuff one can learn from Quantum Optics is the following: - spontaneous emission is stimulated emission by zero point vacuum fluctuations - Maxwells equations are true up to the single photon level this story of light is so fascinating
