Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

Prince Andrew is to leave Royal Lodge and lose his title, Buckingham Palace has announced. He will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Andrew has been under pressure to leave his home at Royal Lodge amid widespread criticism over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted paedophile.

He gave up his Duke of York title this month, saying in a statement that “continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family”.
